Great brunch in a relaxed atmosphere by the pool with a view of Burj Khalifa .Multiple food stations from Japanese , Indian to Lebanese .The live cooking station has beef , seafood and chicken shawarma .Mubeer the manager was very attentive and took personal care of us .Definitely coming back !Oh the free flowing house beverages were just great .
When the weather is cool in Dubai, this bar is incomparable to any other bar as the ambience is really nice and stuff are friendly. Especially at night, drinking a pint of beer looking above at the skyscrapers make you feel pretty gorgeous. An unforgettable moment.
A place with a brilliant ambience. One of the very best. Food is moderately good.On a fifth floor rooftop, a large divided swimming pool with a lounge. They also have two different bars on the other side. This one is over the parking building of Sofitel and connected by a causeway to the main Sofitel building.I was invited by Sanofi/Global pharma for a dinner after a long meeting. We found different food stations for a buffet. The items were underwhelming. A platter of Lamb, beef and Chicken kebabs were the high point. There was vegetable fried rice which was excellent. With that I had Baked fish- high quality tasty fish fillets and a beef meatball. I didn’t take the pasta. A salad bar found many diners. Also kubidhes were available. The small dessert bar had a good umm ali and some small pastries. The welcome drinks felt a bit watered down.Tables were nicely done with great lighting complimenting the trees and water and the view.A nice place for tet-e-tete.
We decided to spend our day off at the Sofitel downtown. The pool used to have fantastic views of the Burj Khalifa, unfortunately, all you see now is construction construction and more construction. For lunch, we moved on to the tables at the bar. The tables are tucked away in a small corner. Although this looks cozy, nooo breeze kissed us. It was way too hot. We opted for two chicken Caesar salads and the fried calamari to share. The salads were amazing and the sauce complimented the lettuce perfectly. The calamari was far below average and wasn’t fresh. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience.
Went there for the European Cheeses event. Not sure if the wine and cheese night is a weekly thing but the selection of cheese was huge, the wine, not that much. They only served one type of red and white wine.
If you want a stunning view of the Burj Khalifa from afar, go here. They do a great Friday brunch and of course The New Year’s Eve parties are fab because you get an amazing view of the fireworks eatcookexplore.com
Well, where to start. The promise of an amazing Friday brunch by the pool at Sofitel Downtown.Firstly, let me start by saying the view was very nice. Aside from the cranes, which block the building in from either side – but it is Dubai. View – check.Lay-out of the Friday brunch – well, odd. The idea was nice, however my first impression was: where is the food? – All in all perhaps 4-6 stands making guests think will there be enough ?BBQ station – everything was bland and the prawns did not quite taste rightSalad Bar – pathetic excuse for a salad bar. It looked as if someone had tipped a bunch of cans into serving bowls and left them out.Cheese Station – all in all 3 types of cheese. Wait, a second isn’t this a French establishment? Where is the cheese? Japanese Station – 3 types of sushi (salmon-salmon-crab), no variety and nothing great to reportChinese Station – Well the spring roll and the prawn wonton were quite nice. Indian/Thai/Miscellaneous – nothing to report onDessert Station – Although very oddly located right next to the elevator – the desserts were probably the only thing worth writing about. The chocolate pudding was delightful, macaroons were average and the lemon-maringue tart was good. To top things off there was flies everywhere and a friend of mine asked for a Coke on which note the waiter quite rudely replied: it is self service and walked away. All in all okay for a one time visit – and that for the view.Price: ridiculous for what you are gettingFood: quality is highly low for a 5-star ‘luxury’ hotel
