We were drawn to this location because the photos looked very cozy and work-friendly. However, upon arrival, half of the location has been turned into a children’s area, while the other half is used for diners. It was a bit cramped and we couldn’t find a socket to plug our laptops, so we ended up just having breakfast, which is only half of what we came there for (the other half is spending the rest of the morning doing some weekend work after eating).Axel and I both ordered the Baker’s Breakfast Feast which includes some cheese, salami, turkey breasts, chicken sausages with cheese and an egg of your choice. In the menu, it said it’s supposed to come with some bread from their bread counter, but we were immediately served a huge basket with exactly four pieces of bread before our breakfast arrived and just one slice of butter for two people. Unfortunately, we finished our bread and butter before our food arrived, yet no one replenished our basket or asked us if we wanted any more (does replenishing our bread basket come at an extra cost? If so, why were the complimentary bread not served along with our actual meal if the menu says they should come together?)The food itself was nothing special. I would say that both the serving and quality could have come out of the kitchen of any average restaurant open at 9am. However, I’d have to say that the chicken sausage was certainly the star of the dish and I would come back if there were other different sausages of the same calibre to try from. The customer service was warm enough, but I believe that more attention to detail would elevate the overall experience at the restaurant. In summary, Baker’s Kitchen was a delightful discovery that looks and feels authentic and quaint for something that is located in an upscale hotel apartment. The arrays of freshly baked bread, the menu in newspaper format with bread-related information, and the semi-open kitchen all make this place a charming spot that screams ‘mom & pop’. Unfortunately, the food fell just a tad short of how promising Baker’s Kitchen seems to be, and I would not go out of my way to revisit unless I’m checked in at Dusit. instagram.com
