I’ve dined in four times in this restaurant. I’m a vegetarian and have always opted for an Injera platter for two. The quality of food is good. I just wish the portions of lentils/vegetables was bigger. At 85 AED per Injera platter, you are left with more Injera and less accompaniments. Service is good. Staff is polite. Ambience is nice. On busy evenings parking may be a problem but I think they do have valet.
ProsGreat food (authentic ethiopian food – order taste of ethiopia)Great staffLovely ambianceConsThey’ve changed their menu and so have gotten rid of what it was originally. This was huge disappointment. They also got rid of the ethiopian coffee with popcorn!!
Swift table booking through Zomato and a pleasant evening at the Club Vista Mare overlooking a lagoon. Tastefully done up interiors and attentive staff. Going by the crowd this place looks popular. We ordered the taste of Ethiopia platter which was more than enough for one and jerk chicken with brownie for dessert. This place has two menus, one featuring Ethiopian native dishes and another menu for their to be opened,Ras. The second menu had a carribean flair with sliders, curries and grills. The Ethiopian platter is a great sampler and an introduction to dishes akin to Indian dosa and curries. Every dish tasted different but strangely familiar to my native tastebuds. The jerk chicken was ordinary and portion size small. The brownie was made of native teff flour which went well with homemade icecream. Overall it was a nice experience and would recommend the platter to fellow foodies out there! Bemigibu tedeseti
I’d been wanting to try Ethiopian food for a while, when the stars aligned for me to be able to pull my Ethiopian friend along. Ordered Shiro and Fosolieh with Injera bread. The savoury/sour bread is in the form of a long strip, and the correct way to serve the food is quite interesting, you might have to ask your friendly server though. The Shiro is mostly gravy and Fosolieh mainly veggies, I’d recommend you to pair your foods this way. The flavours are very unique and the bread adds a punch to it, overall very satisfying. The location is beautiful, we decided to sit outside since the weather was too good to give it a skip. We strolled around the restaurant for a bit before our food arrived, and I have to say we were having second thoughts about our choice to sit outdoors. The ambiance is great, it has a rustic and authentic feel to it. Definitely going to grab a table indoors next time.
Very disappointed with the quality of the food. Remember eating here 4 months back and came back feeling I was in a different restaurant. small plates are below average and you have to spend 100 AED to barely fill up your stomach. If I am going to spend that much, Dubai has by far many better places to offer!
My first try at Ethopian food and I absolutely loved it. We ordered for a vegan Taste of Ethopia. When the order arrived, it had a huge spread of something like the Indian Dosa in the base with 7 different toppings/veggies. On asking, we learnt it was made from some local gram of Ethopia and was called Injera. The seven different toppings included a cold salad, chickpea gravy, steamed lentils, fresh Kale sauteed with onion and garlic, cabbage with patato and carrots, stir fried green beans with carrots and onions and injera pieces in sunflower gravy. All tasted extremely delicious, the cold salad, injera pieces and the chickpea gravy being the best. It wasn’t spicy as per the Indian taste buds but I loved the flavors. It was one of the best lunches I have had not only because of the food but also because of the extremely helpful staff and the amazing beach view. It felt full and yet healthy after the scrumptious meal.
