O Punjabi is a newly opened restaurant in Karama and I was invited here for a tasting session. This place has 2 sections- one for shisha smokers & other one for regular dine-in.To begin with, I ordered for drinks- out of which I really liked Virgin Pina Colada. For starters, I tried Veg momos, Dahi ke sholey, Tandoori soya chaap and Achari paneer tikka. I absolutely loved Dahi ke sholey & Tandoori soya chaap, both were made to perfection.I enjoyed the main course more than the starters. So we had, Sarason ka saag, Amritsari Kulcha with Chola, Palak Paneer and Dal Makhani. Dal Makhani had perfect consistency and rich in taste. YUM! And lastly, from their desserts- we tried Gulab Jamun, Moong Dal Ka Halwa, Gajar ka halwa, Rasmalai, they were amazing! All of them, got over in seconds. Thank you O Punjabi team for having me over!
O PUNJABI : Located at the heart of AL KARAMA near to ADCB METRO and a walkable distance from BURJUMAN CENTRE serves delicious North Indian especially Punjabi dishes; both veg and non-veg.I was a part of bloggers meet for the tasting session of some their specialities including drinks , appetisers, main course and desserts. What we had -Drinks :Kiwi kooler, Blue Lagoon, Fruit punch, Virgin pina colado, Mango lassi, Black mojito and Jaljeera. Except Jaljeera all the drinks were awesome and competing with each other with regard to taste. Kiwi cooler and Mango lassi were my favourites. Jaljeera was bit salty and more of masala. Blue lagoon was refreshing.Starters: Dahi ke Sholay: Hung yoghurt with herbs and spices stuffed in soft shells. This was yummilicious and was my favourite for the day.Tandoori soya chap: Made into small balls of bite size, it was very crisp and delicious in taste . It was a protein rich vegan option.Paneer tikka achari : The soft and juicy morsels of paneer coated with spicy and tangy masala was a delight to eat.Murgh tikka : It was tender, juicy and tasted good.Lamb Seekh Kabab : It was flavorful and going well with green chutney.Veg and Non-veg momos: Even though both tasted delicious with respective stuffings , the veg momo was super hit.Main course :Mutton Rohan josh: Lamb curry with mild spices. It had a thin red coloured gravy and tasted delicious.Mutton railway curry: Its normally cooked with nice big chunks of meat still on the bones. The bone marrow gives the curry a finger licking good taste.Butter chicken : A most popular dish in any Indian restaurant . The gravy was thick ,creamy and had amazing taste.Palak paneer : One of my all time favourite. No words to describe.Sarson ka sag : It was too delicious and a must try. Breads / Indian rotis : Pudina paratta, Laccha paratta, Butter naan, Garlic naan and Butter roti. These breads served were fresh, hot and had distinctive tastes.Desserts: Gulab jamun, Rasmalai, Rasgulla, Moong Dal ka halwa, Gajar ka halwa. All were delicious. Among these I liked most were Gulab Jamun and Moong dal ka halwa.Ambience is lovely with eye catching interiors, chandeliers, dining tables with trolly like theme etc. They have quite spacious dining area with comfortable seating and separate space for shisha as well. All the drinks and food served were fresh and flavourful. The staff were polite and the service was good.
I have passed by this restaurant multiple number of times when in Karama area. I finally tried their food last week, thanks to an invitation!A wide variety of food items and drinks were served. Here is the list of what all I tried. To begin with, for drinks, we were served jal jeera, blue lagoon, kiwi cooler, pina colada, fruit punch, virgin mojito, black mojito and mango lassi. My favorite was the pina colada and the kiwi cooler. Both were super tasty and refreshing at the same time. Mango lassi was really good as well. Jal jeera was a letdown, too salty and too much masala.Next came the starters- veg momos, dahi ke sholay, paneer tikka achari, tandoori soy chaap, chicken momos, murgh tikka and lamb seekh kebab. Even though it’s lastly listed in the starters here, lamb seekh kebab was my personal fav. Loved the flavours and texture of the kebab. Dahi ke sholay was perfect. It had the right amount of all the ingredients and was undoubtedly one of the best veg starters to have! I also liked the soya chaap, and veg momos. Paneer tikka was a little dry, nonetheless not too bad. Murgh tikka was decent as well. For mains, we had Amritsari kulcha with chole, dal makhni, palak paneer, sarson ka saag, butter chicken, railway mutton curry and rogan josh; with breads pudina parantha, laccha parantha, butter roti, butter naan and garlic naan. Almost everything tasted good, some were exceptionally good. All the non veg curries were awesome, so was the palak paneer. The breads were soft and freshly made, and hence super enjoyable with the curry. Amritsari kulcha with chole was a great combination, perfectly stuffed bread the kulcha turned out to be.For desserts, we were served gulab jamun, rasmalai, rasgulla, moong dal ka halwa and gajar ka halwa. My fav was the rasmalai. It was so good, my mouth is watering right now as I am writing this review! Gulab jamun and gajar ka halwa were delicious as well. Rasgulla had room for improvement though!Service was a little slow here and there, but the staff were extremely polite and cooperative. So no complaints whatsoever. O Punjabi also a spacious area outside for shisha, with ample seating. Would love to be back here for sure.
Based in Karama, O Punjabi has a wide variety of vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes to offer to its audience. I was invited here for a bloggers meet up, organized by Mystic Advertising. The ambiance of the eatery is pretty, and they have a huge, spacious dining area. Walking down further, they also have a separate sheesha area. The music in the background compels to sing/ dance along while being seated, as their playlist is quite catchy. The servers were very polite, and were always on their feet to serve us.For the food, we were served vegetarian momos, chicken momos, tandoori soya chaap, paneer tikka achaari, dahi ke sholey, murgh tikka, lamb sheekh kebab, Amritsari kulche with chole, butter chicken, dal makhani, palak paneer, sarson ka saag, railway mutton curry, mutton rogan josh, breads (pudina paratha, laccha paratha, butter roti, butter naan, garlic naan), gulab jamun, ras malai, rasgulla, moong dal ka halwa and gajar ka halwa.Out of which, I tried out the following items:Tandoori soya chaap: adorable bites, crispy and soft, this was my favourite appetizer, as it was full of flavours and delicious. Definitely a must try!Paneer tikka achaari: soft chunks of paneer with a tasty marination, were palatable to the palate.Mutton sheekh kebabs: delectable, soft and flavoursome, these were mildly spicy and appetizing.Amritsari kulcha with chole: stuffed with a filling of spiced, mashed potatoes, this was excellent and flavoursome. Loved pairing it with the chick peas on the side.Sarson ka saag: just right in consistency, the saag was full of flavours.Palak paneer: thick, huge chunks of paneer were tossed in spinach gravy which was thick in consistency. Offering mild flavours, this was a tasty dish.Dal makhani: my favourite on the table, the consistency was just right, and this creamy and buttery goodness was toothsome, flavourful and mildly spicy. Undoubtedly a must try.Breads: a mix of different, warm breads were served, and they were soft, crispy and freshly prepared.Rasmalai: soft patties resting in saffron milk were sweet and yummy.Gajar ka halwa: loved it to bits! Made so perfectly, this dish was fairly sweet, rich and a must have. For the drinks, I tried out the kiwi kooler, which was refreshing, mellow and pleasing.Thank you O Punjabi team for hosting us. Will definitely come back soon to try other items on the menu.
A good Indian restaurant with fresh Punjabi food. You must try their sarson da saag and Dal Makhani. It is really good. Also try their lassi, it is good. Overall it is a good place for hot and delicious food
O Punjabi is conveniently located between Karama and Burjuman Metro, if u have ever passed by wondering how it is cramped in such a small place, worry not they have a upper deck. The food here is good, worth a try, the non veg Platter has 2 chicken tandoori pieces, 2 mutton seekh kebabs, 2 Malai boti, 2 hara masala chicken, 2 chicken Tikka pieces, plenty for a group of 4, and your starters r covered. The main course, I was recommended the mutton railway, but we were not interested in experimenting, considering this being our only visit, we ordered spicy mutton Kadai and were surprised it turned out well. Pieces could have been a bit smaller. We order kheer which was not that good and a black mojito which was alright. In short, give it a try and may be even try out their recommendations.
