Mutton Karahi this amazing has no business being served in a roadside dive like this. But that’s just the hit or miss nature of roadside dining – the Surprise! can roll either way. We were lucky on this “random choice, walk-in-off-the-street” occasion. Their Mutton Biriyani and Daal weren’t at all bad either. The only real criticism I have is reserved for their Naan-type bread which, while hot and fresh out of a self-fashioned Tanoor, was too thick and a little under cooked around the edges but that’s just me nit-picking because everything else was surprisingly good. So if you’re on the Oman Hatta road or in the Ras Al Khor area and EITHER have an unsurpassable craving for a damn decent Karahi OR are at the end of your tether with hunger and don’t have time to turn back to Dubai – then this is the place for you. BUT be forewarned – POSH is NOT one of the words which comes to mind when describing Al Tabak Al Shahee Restaurant.
