I jumped at the opportunity to eat Zanzibari food in Dubai and arrived at this busy cafe in Ras Al Khor with high hopes. The first bite of my meat samosa was disappointing, and it only got worse. The meat biryani looked and tasted like chicken. The chicken biryani tasted of fish. That said, both dishes didn’t actually taste of much at all. The chapatti was heavy. The mchicha (spinach) was an unrecognizable yellow. There was a decent chili sauce but it had a bit of a chemical aftertaste and wasn’t enough to liven up the meal. After 3 bites, I gave up. It was sadly, truly inedible.
