As Mansoor Madani correctly noted it IS Bondish, but in a kind of cuddly early 80’s retro style. And comparing Maxim to north european night clubs, this is as innocuous as the daycare offered in IKEA, I’m bringing my wife AND the little ones with me next time I visit Maxim. The performing artist are above average and entertaining, but you might wanna give your kids earplugs as the sound level at times is too high. oh..forgot to say that a 3/4 L of Heiniken draught beer served in a ice cold glass will set you back AED 45 only, plenty of money left for your alimony.
Do you know why no one has reviewed this bar-restaurant as yet? It’s because no respectable bloke will admit to coming here. Well, I have a friend who has been to Maxim’s. He’s the same guy who has also been to many other such establishments, lucky bugger, I mean idiot. He tells me that it’s the live show at Maxim’s that scoundrels like him go there for – a live show where skimpy dressed, big busted, white chicks (his words, not mine) dance and sing in sweetly accented, da darling voices. I mean who in his right mind would want to leave the sanctitude and warm embrace of wife and the little ones to go to such a place? Despicable! But it seems people actually do this, especially entertaining businessmen, goo-goo eyed tourists and the odd group of fun loving guys on a boy’s night out in Deira. Drinks, he tells me, are not as expensive as one would expect at a place like this. It’s also relatively free of women who charge for the pleasure of their company, which is a relief and almost good enough to make it respectable enough to go to. Almost. Service is very good with a server assigned to every second table. And valet parking is also available but it’s advisable not to bring a car, you will be in no condition to drive by the time you’re dragged out at closing time. Waste NOT, Want NOT.
