We spent about three hours at this restaurant, everything was good until the end; we had a starter of Chicken Boti kebab, which was albeit cold, but good. We had Chardonnay white wine (from the bottle) which was really good, smelt great and had a very bubbly taste. Then we moved to the main course, and the staff suggested the Beef Sirloin Steak, and along with the gravy, the steak was well done and we appreciated the suggestion. After which we had the Chicken Joojeh main course and also, the Chicken Masala with Roti, all really good and done well. At this point, we had asked for glasses of Red Wine. The staff brought the glasses (note: the good service), but the wine tasted horrible and smelt really bad; it seemed as though they had brought it from a bottle that had been kept open for really long and hadn’t bothered to check it’s quality. We requested the staff to replace the Red wine with White wine instead, and the staff reluctantly said that it was already billed, we did say we would pay for it. However, any restaurant who wishes to get a good standing wouldn’t ask their customers to pay for bad and sour quality in taste. We were disappointed when they brought the bill and it included the badly tasting Red wine. Let’s just say this is not the way you let a customer leave.

My family hosted an iftar party for 12 in the Olive Tree Restaurant in the well-known Avari Hotel. Moving on, we went there on Friday night and the table was beautifully set there were goblets of water on the table, dates and milk rooafzah. Later on when it was almost time to break our fasts they brought in huge plates of samosas, pakora’s and spring rolls. Everything was good but the pakora’s and spring rolls were table favorites. The oriental vegetable soup was brilliant, I loved it. The salad was very well presented and they had salad bar which you should definitely try. They have a shawarma station which was really cool the shawarma’s were light and fluffy and if you wanted you could get one made yourself or just pick up some from the readymade pile. They also have a pasta station and an ouzi station. We tried a little bit of the ouzi and it was good. The pasta station was the best out of all three. You could choose your pasta and what ingredients you want and then you have a little bit of heaven on your plate. Now on to the buffet, the lamb kofta was good, the fish was amazing, the daal was very good, the iranian mix grill was also good the chicken/mutton was very tender and melts in your mouth. The chicken biryani was very good. The beef tikka masala was also pretty good had some good flavors. The saffron potato was amazing I loved it. They also had some drinks like kamar eldeen and jallab which were surprisingly good. Now onto dessert the ummi ali was good so were the custard shots and the fruit plus the baklava was very crispy. Overall a good restaurant a must try. Zomato the buffet costs 79 Dhs per person not 55.This experience was initiated and paid for by me. whatthefigs.com
