Being a Sri Lankan I always search for places where they serve my kinda Sri Lankan cuisine. #alshamking is one of the places I always visit for a satisfying Sri Lankan meal when ever I feel really hungry. The Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menu changes every day and apart from that they serve a variety of what we like to call #shorteats. Some good food and ginger beer takes me a long way through out the day. It’s not a very big place and seating capacity is very limited. But still they never run out of good food. Friendly staff and affordable prices!!

The best place to have authentic srilankan rice and curry. I usually visit them only on Fridays and Saturdays. Friendly staff and the servings are good.

As a Sri Lankan living in this region for over two decades I’m constantly in the look for new Srilankan restaurants that serve authentic Srilankan food. I’ve tried many places with food that is merely average. Only recently found this place, and every time I eat here I’m reminded of back home. Simply love the food here! I’m yet to try their rice & curry though. Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly and accommodating. (1) String Hopper Kothu(beef) – Soft and fluffy made with fresh string hoppers and beef curry. Just perfect for dinner.Dhs.15(2) Kothu Roti (beef) – Not too oily or soggy but just perfect! With just the amount of gravy and plenty of beef pieces.Dhs.15(3) Egg Roti – Served hot with lunu miris(Srilankan chilli paste) one bite and it took me back to my childhood days. (4) Fish Rolls – Crispy and fresh, tasted just as good as the homemade ones.Dhs.3 (per piece)(5) Nasigorang – Served with a fried egg on top the rice was flavorful with plenty of seafood in it. Dhs.18(6) Pol roti – Thick yet soft with added onions and green chillie, it was perfect with lunu miris.

Bit hard to find this place as it’s tucked away in a corner. Went there just before they were due to close for Friday prayers, managed to grab some rolls, lumprice and an egg roti. The rolls were really good, not at all too spicy and the right amount of stuffing. The lump rice was a decent size, they didn’t skimp out on the curries and it was not oily as well. The egg roti was not too bad as well but I shouldn’t have heated it up before eating it. Also have heard that the rest of their dishes as well are tasty and the prices are not high when compared to other Sri Lankan restaurants. Definitely will go back again. There’s space inside the restaurant if you want to eat there instead of doing take away. Only thing is they don’t deliver which is a bit of a drawback.
