Good Turkish home-made food. Previously restaurant owner’s wife was there but cannot see her any more. However, the food is good, sometimes they cook more vegetable classics of Turkish cuisine (which should be everyday, I guess, not occasionally).

This is my go to place for lunch in the DIFC. I’m actually quite surprised how few reviews there are about the restaurant – I can only put it down to the usual DIFC clientele just being in too much of a rush when they visit this place during their lunch break. All the dishes that I have tried at Turquisine can be described as good old fashioned homely food, I would imagine cooked with authentic fresh ingredients – that’s how it tastes anyways! Always plenty of colourful stews, vegetable and meat based – all very warm and inviting. The chicken (on the bone) with black pepper gravy is soft and succulent and packed with flavour. 2 pieces for just AED 30 is a bargain in the DIFC; grilled potato strips and fresh French bread and butter are complimentary. Sometimes, when i’m not that hungry, I will order a half portion which these guys have no problem doing; making it even cheaper! In the other hand when I’m really hungry or craving some carbs, the various rices they serve are very tasty and even half a portion is a handsome amount. The lamb they serve with boiled carrots is mouthwatering. Unbelievably tender meat, soft and flavoursome – the taste again full of rich herbs, spices and the whole dish with a vintage old school charm about it. It’s a bit more expensive at AED 45 but the portion is huge, and the taste is well worth it.Finally, the grilled kofta, not to be mistaken with the baked kofta! Often this is not on display counter (never understood why) but it is available almost every day if you request it (5 minute wait). This is one of my favourite post gym foods to eat, served with potatoes and sliced tomato and onion. The meat is sizzling when served, oozing with juicy flavours, not bland, not too spicy and best of all the perfect balance between tender and crisp.Overall this place is rated highly by me because of its great value for money, speed of service, consistency in taste and quality, home-cooked food vibe and variety of daily specials. Interestingly although this is described as a Turkish restaurant, the menu is quite different to what you might expect. As I said before, it seems like the sort of food Turkish families probably eat at home I’m guessing with their grandmother!

Decent food, decent prices. Food is heavy like traditional Turkish cuisine. If you are in a hurry and craving for a home cooked meal, this might be a good alternative.

This is based on multiple attempt at this place mainly having their daily dishes. Honestly, the food is decent but extremely heavy. The portions are massive so ask for the smaller size. I like their eggplant and kafta dishes.

This place is a no brainer for a hearty home cooked style lunch at a reasonable price. For AED 45 you can get a bottle of water, a red cabbage salad, a couple of pieces of bread and a generous portion of boneless chicken breasts in gravy with potatoes. The quality of food has always been excellent whatever I have had. There lamb is a must try as well. Compare this to paying AED65 for one Poke Bowl at other restaurants.
