Ages ago, when I was still comparatively new to UAE, I called the Cafeteria guy and asked him if he had something spicy.Yes sir, we have spicy shawarma.SPICY SHAWARMA!? Whaat?I thought shawarma was not spicy. What the hell is that?Its called Mexicy, sir.O…kay, give me two.What started as an initial idea morphed into one one of the longest love affairs with food that I have ever had. That shop eventually closed down but a call to this place told me they also served these. So I got them. I don’t think I have looked back ever since. I must have had like thousands of them over time. No really! I’m not exaggerating. This one time me mum went abroad and I used to have three of them each day for like maybe six months or so. That was around 2007 (I write this in 2018) and I can happily report that it has only gotten better since then which should tell you something about the consistency of the place. Its brilliant (& I hope it stays that way). But I wanna be extremely clear about a few things straight up. Firstly, I have almost never been inside myself since mostly I order from them (over all these years their order has almost always been correct and they have not taken more than a reasonable time to deliver). Secondly, I have eaten a lot of their burgers over time and though they are perfectly a-okay, they do not warrant writing about here. Nah, their speciality (in my opinion) tends to be their mexicy shawarma. Its brilliant.I also wanna be clear that it is not a quote unquote shawarma. For those of you who do not know, shawarma was invented in Ottoman Turkey in the 19th Century and it has remained for the most part the most famous street food in most of the Arab countries. So you can say its an arab thing. With its spicy chicken and fries, their mexicy is a little bit far from Arab. If you mind it tasting delicious despite being this way then you are making a mistake. Its greato.Parking can most often be a problem. The ones outside are paid (if you are lucky enough to find one). If you don’t find one (which will be often) then parking with double indicators on the main road may also be a problem because of all the cops passing by.This place serves a great mexicy. It is fantastico. The only reason why I have given it this rating is because I believe that is the ONLY thing they do well. Even the mutton options are so-so and the other things are passable.
