Welcome and service was good at the start with nice decor and warm a Nepalese flavour. Much colder atmosphere when it came to pay for the bill, after we complained that the nan and the pilau rice were lukewarm and the rest of the dishes were not exactly piping hot. Doesn’t matter how good the food is, if it’s tepid it’s tepid and compared to other restaurants in the area they’re not the cheapest! The food is really good, but I really hope they pay more attention to their service and points of contact.
I had to visit this place and was keen on trying the Nepalese cuisine. So our office colleagues decided to go to this place. The decor was good and soothing we were given a warm welcome by the servers dressed in smart formals i was a bit confused as the decor was depicting nepali culture so why the waiters was dressed so formal. Then we were given table to be honest the place looked a bit cramped up could have been utilised in a better way i reckon. The table clothes and the placing on the cutleries was old fashioned where the seating was more formal as this is 21st century more contemporary look will enhance the decor more so according to me the decor and the table layout was confusing. Looking at the menu it was more of indian dishes for which i was disappointed but still managed to squeak in nepali dishes. We ordered chicken momos which was very good and cooked with perfection we also ordered meat sizzlers which was again good and the meat was succulent and tasty. Main course ordered by us was a nepalese chicken dish which was again very good the breads were freshly prepared and hence tasted very good. Overall experience was good and the dishes where not heavily prized i guess food was really great and worth the penny.
Should have gone to Clay Oven. I visited Montys for lunch today (Sunday) as I was in the area. I usually go to the Clay Oven (or various places in Southall) which I cannot fault, but the same cannot be said of Montys. When I walked in, a middle aged man wearing glasses simply stared at me instead of offering me a table. In view of his behaviour, I assumed him to be a customer but soon discovered he actually worked there behind the bar! A young waiter then took me to my table and showed me the buffet. When I declined the buffet, he promptly brought me a menu, but then no-one bothered to take my order! It was as if I was just forgotten about. After sitting for quite a long time, I summoned a waiter and ordered chana masala and naan. I also asked for a poppadom. Other diners who arrived some time after I did received their poppadoms and I had to ask for mine! I then waited for a good half an hour and no food appeared. Once again I had to ask the waiter how much longer I would have to wait. The restaurant was NOT busy at all. Eventually the food arrived with NO apology for its tardiness. The chana masala was OK but the naan was doughy and not of the standard I am accustomed to (as an Indian person). I settled my bill at the counter and left without leaving a tip. The service was atrocious and the food mediocre. When paying, I was offered a loyalty card but refused it as I will never return to such a place. I would advise everyone to go to the Clay Oven or any number of excellent places up the road in Southall.
Love it!!! Especially the Lamb Romal
Pathetic service!!!. It’s for the Ealing Broadway oneI would say food is very nice but service is very poor…We used to be almost regular visitor to this as it’s very close for us. However, today we had a takeway and whilst eating we found that what we have ordered, they did not give us that!! This has never happened in my life!Anyway I just called them asking them the next actions.. they want us to bring the food back whilst we already have eaten other dishes… Horrible! I cant believe that’s what they said us.. We live 0.4 mile from them and they dont have a driver( They do delivery too for order over 20 – I guess it was a lie) to change our order and replace us with something… To be honest, we never had this situation and not sure what would be the prudent man’s view on this! We cant eat those what they have given us.. they just ruined a lovely evening…. We have decided to stop going there as that will at least give the a business loss of 50 a month..probably will give us a bit of relief for ruining our evening… They just lost quite regular customer..They should improve their service.. I found west ealing Monty’s service is much better…
