This place is walking distance from Balham Station. What made me want to go there is that I wanted to try something different. The deco is rustic with mid eastern touches throughout.Food-I ordered the mixed grilled which had one portion each of lamb chop, shashlik and meat cubes alongwith some sauces and a portion of rice.I would reccomend the mixed grill platter as a safe bet if you go in here. The other half ordered chicken tagine which in all honesty i did not like and neither did she. It was boiled chicken in a tomato based soup, which is made up of simple flavours. It might work for you if thats your thing. In short worth a try. The service is a bit slow though so dont schedule any immediate appointments.
I came here last year with a group of friends for a birthday celebration and we pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves as it was empty. Empty for a Sunday evening is a bit unusual however. The interior makes up a beautiful Moroccan themed restaurant with its traditional furniture. The dim lighting also makes it perfect for an intimate meal. The menu offers a range of tagines and meat dishes. I went for the chicken skewers and rice which was tasty, however I wish the portion size could have been slightly bigger. We also ordered a range of tasty mocktails. Since the restaurant was quite empty, the staff did their best to ensure everything was fine. The food was also prepared fairly quickly. Overall a great experience!
I ttought it was great. I’m not local but I still make a trip to Balham to go to this restaurant. The food is excellent and the bring your own alcohol makes it very reasonable. The atmosphere and authentic decor makes it an experience and not just a meal. They have belly dancers at the week-end which is great. I can’t resist the lamb barbouk tagine with prunes, almonds, poached pear and sesame seeds. A couple had the lamb meshwi to share and the rest of us were delighted there was more than enough left over for us to try. Zizou and all the staff were charming as ever. I wish they would open a branch nearer me! Thanks for a great night. D
NO THX. I don’t recommend this restaurant at all !!!We use this restaurant for once as my mate had B day and we wanted to try something new.We left very disappointed as staff was UNBELIEVABLY SLOW!!! it was pricey and it didn’t worth it.If you want to drink alcohol you have to bring it yourself. You would expect that staff is from wherever else just not Polish. When we asked waitress to take picture of us she told us that she ll be back in the minute what never happened.Instead of that she went behind the bar drinking …PURE DISAPPOINTMENT
