Came in for Sunday brunch, no acknowledgment from staff, when we finally sat down, we had to ask for the menu. We then had to ask to place our order. Waiting staff seemed like they couldn’t be bothered to wait on us, they didn’t even speak to us. Never asked us if we were ready to order, if we needed anything else, if the food was ok…nothing!! Regardless of the fact that one of our food was wrong. They honestly did not ask us anything! They literally acted like they did not want to be there. Food was average and won’t be coming back here again as there are plenty of cafes in Balham that would be much friendlier and tastier….for example MILK!!!

Walking around balham on a Sunday afternoon, feeling hungry. It was finally a choice between pizza express and here. Well since we had been to.pizza express any times we decided to try tartine. The restaurant was packed and lots of people enjoying the Sunday late breakfast and good weather. The seating area is tightly packed together. We found a table for two. The difficulty we often find when visiting restaurants is the vegeterian options – are sometimes rare or very few. The menu has a good number of vegeterian dishes available. Since it being a Sunday we also wanted to enjoy the Sunday breakfast feeling and therefore ordered one Spanish Omelette and the homemade falafel and zaalouk. Both sounded great. The food was served quickly, luckily because we were very hungry. The Spanish Omelette was served with saut potatoes and salad. We had also ordered a portion of bread but no butter was served with the bread! The hummus, falafel and zaalouk looked amazing. There were 4 falafel pieces served with aubergine caviar, a generous serving of hummus, olives, salad, couscous and pita bread. The falafel was crispy but tasted very bland. Perhaps my taste buds are used to spicy food. The hummus was delicious. Very few restaurants serve hummus which tastes fresh and melts in the mouth. It was great! The pita breads were soft and went well with the hummus. Couscous was well spiced and flavour full. The meal all blended well together. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!! The desserts looked good – the crepes in particular but the meal was already too filling that there was no space left for desserts!

Delicious, Simple And Tasted Exoctic. I live near (Balham Venue) and for some time I’d pass by and could smell absolutely wonderful and fascinating food. It always intrigued me and had wanted to try some for myself. So finally, went there with my sister. Staff were really friendly, me and my sister both ordered a chicken wrap to take away. Order took 15 mins and they had packed the food in a lovely brown box and brown paper bag. This was pleasing as I’m very conscious about recycling and plastic being bad for us and the environment but it also gave it a traditional, rustic and healthy look. The wrap was better than I imagined, all grilled, properly filled, not oonly did it look so appetising but it tasted better than it looked! Furthermore, it came with additional salad and chips- small amount but I could hardly finish the wrap! Overall, it was all wonderful! Even the place had a warm feel, will definitely go there again!

Weird. Went there on a weekday, not so busy, round 1 pm. Ordered an ham and cheese crepes, nice and easy. Crepes arrived, looked sparkly, obviously I knew there was something not quite right. Tried that, sweet and full of sugar, did not pair well with the topping. Asked the waitress at that point, she did not believe what I was saying, so had to wait for her to bring it back to kitchen and submit it to the attention of the chef. He confirmed that was a sweet crepes with a savoury topping, they asked me if I wanted to wait to have the right one, but did not fancy a crepes anymore and finally I gave up. Thank God they did not have the courage to charge me. I mean, it is a crepes, should not be that difficult, I am not even French so not expect the most amazing one in the world, but this is the basic. Don’t think I will be back, apart from my experience, the place looked a bit dirty

I love this place! Being French this is probably the best caf in London that serves French breakfast food. They make amazing coffee, tea and hot chocolate! And they have the best pastries, pain au chocolate, croissants etc. This is definitely a go to for breakfast!

As we walked into this little caf, just off the Balham high road, we were hit by a sweet smell of fresh cake and coffee. With some calming background music playing, this felt like a safe haven from the extremely busy high street!Tartine is probably a coffee and cake first, breakfast second kinda place, however they do offer their version of the full English. So for 7.45 you get 2 eggs, turkey bacon, tomato, mushrooms, fried potato and toast. Not quite a classic selection! The staff were friendly and the service was good, but the food didnt really deliver. I had reservations about turkey bacon, but it wasnt as bad as I had feared. The problem with it is its too dry but the taste wasnt that far away the real stuff. The other problem was the potato, which was undercooked and hard. The lack of a sausage or beans was a big disappointment too. lordofthefries1.blogspot.com

Great if you like being ignored. Appalling service and disinterested staff. Expect to be ignored.
