Very happy with my full English here as it really hit the spot, after rushing in out of the rain with a raging desire for brunch. However, as this is in Balham, the price was a touch on the high side and I had to pay extra for juice, which wasn’t fresh, but in a bottle. The menu also lacked the creativity and original options now gracing the breakfast plates of Londoners city-wide. However, the staff were very friendly, the atmosphere cosy and the meal of good quality. Sarah M and I were more than pleased to eat here at least. londoncurryblog.com
The Chestnut is a fairly new cafe in Balham but has the vibe of a local place that’s been around for ages. The staff are really friendly and I can’t fault the service, although not having a card machine these days is a big no no for me, especially considering how hard it was raining this weekend as I ran across the road to withdraw cash.Went for the eggs royale which although tasty was nothing special and typical Balham prices at 8 for the dish. Also I don’t know how I feel about having salad with eggs – I’d rather just have more eggs. London Curry Blogloved both his fry up and the decor on the walls and so was a very happy little curry blogger indeed, especially when he got to swap his tomato for black pudding at no extra cost. These were washed down by a green tea for me and an orange juice for Tooting, all lovely stuff. whatsarahdoes.com
