Al Souk is a lebanese resturant in Gants Hill. The mixed grill shown here consisted of Shish Taouk, Kofte Taouk and Lahm Meshwi was simply a combination of wonderous meats. All meats were well marinated, filling the palate with middle eastern flavours. The pinquancy of the mince was electric and the chicken cubes were delicate and juicy. The lamb cubes were tender and succulent. I often find chicken in lebanese places dry with just the charcoal taste on the surface but the chicken here was juicy and packed full of seasoning. The side condiment of spicy sauce had so much heat it burned my mouth, but the taste was too addictive to resist. The vermicelli rice was pleasant and buttery and the side salad added a cooling balance to the whole dish. Certainly one of the more superior lebanese establishments we have dined in.
Well decorated Al Souk restaurant is just a few minutes walk from Gants hill station, I went there with my cousin to have some food to fill our empty stomach. We ordered for mixed grill and chips with a large still water, the waiter informed us that it will take some few minutes to get it done, the information was passed to us in a polite and friendly manner I appreciated that to be honest. However, the meal was ready at the said time and on setting my eyes on it I had a feeling it wont beat my expectations, I thought it was going to be a normal grilled mixed without any special flavour but to my surprise especially the lahem meshwi, it turned out to be a nice and delicious meal that we so much enjoyed. I fell in love with the food, well decorated restaurant and the lovely atmosphere. Promise to come back again with my friends.
Forget about edgeware road!. Went here for a meal with some old friends and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived which is generally a bad sign but within half an hour of our arrival the place was absolutely full. The waiters were friendly, if I had to find a bad point I would say the quality of English amongst the staff was not great. This said, the food was spectacular. Absolutely loved every starter we ordered, the meatballs being a particular favorite. Amongst the mains shared between my group I particuarly liked the Baby chicken, Very moist, tender and absolutely bursting with flavour. All in this place is very very nice, great decor and great food at a reasonable price. Not one to be missed!31 Dec, 2013We visited Al souk on Xmas eve and all in had a spectacular evening. The service levels were impeccable and the food phenomenal. A personal favourite of mine is the fattoush and al souk certainly didn’t disappoint in this departments. My husband went for the shisha taouk and said he really enjoyed this. A definite must go in an area with too few great restaurants. Also the decor is beautiful.
Ordered food to take away INEDIBLE – lamb burger was RAW… Shawarma SMELT off… Asked for a refund and they said it wasnt their policy NOT RECOMMEND this place
I attended this restaurant with my family (5 members altogether) on a Thursday and were told that we could not eat there as all the tables were reserved. The restaurant was not busy (2 tables used). The waiter informed us that everyone has to reserve a table prior to attending. This is odd especially as this is not stated in the window, on the menu or anywhere else. This is an extremely bad service and a good way to lose customers.
Not great food. Service was good, friendly staff. However, I have eaten in many lebanese/turkish restaurants and the mixed grill that we got was not great at all. The kebab was not edible as taste was poor. I would not go there again.
Al souk lebanese restaurant east london. Al Souk is a lebanese restaurant in london, good food, good service an a price that is very competitive. I very much enjoyed my time at this establishment. We went as a party of four and had a very good night. I will definitely be returning.
