Celebrated my Aunts birthday there on Saturday and staff went out of their way to make it really special! Shannon managed the booking for us and from the word go he planned all the minute details – really impressed with the service, the food, the ambience and willingness to ensure we had a great evening – thank you Shannon!
Excellent find for Thai food lovers close to Barnes. This is a cosy little restaurant, very reasonably priced and with great food. Do book before you visit as it is a small restaurant and gets busy very quickly. They have the most amazing complimentary prawn crackers you must have ever had. Everything we ordered was very tasty and fulfilling. The Thai satay gai (grilled marinated chicken with peanut sauce), Tom yum soup, som tum (raw papaya salad), kaeng dang (Thai red curry) were all just amazing. The ambience is simple but has the homely warmth. If you are in a mood for a Saturday lunch or dinner comfort food, away from the central buzz and friendly to your pocket, awesome Thai is the place.
We went here on a recommendation. They welcomed us warmly and seated us. The thing which caught my eye was their lunch boxes. They were priced so reasonably and had so many things in it. We ordered lunch box B and C. stir fried chicken, spring rolls and fresh rolls stuffed with avocados were the things we liked the most. This place is a must try if you love Thai food. We would thoroughly recommend it.
Enjoyable meal, clean and tidy restaurant, friendly staff. Food tasted really nice with the right amount of spice, I went for the soft shell crab with a nice sweet chilli dipping sauce and red curry. If I had to moan about anything would just be wanting a colder beer, but all good.
The new kid on the block in Barnes is the aptly named Awesome Thai. Seriously, thats the name of the restaurant, it did make me chuckle a bit. But as they say, dont judge a book by its cover. After eating here youll soon agree that the name fits perfectly and should never be changed. The food is awesome! The new manager of this fantastic restaurant is a guy named Lert, very endearing and rushes around the restaurant trying his hardest to please and a fantastic job he does at that. After my dinner partner arrived 20 minutes late and by which point I had devoured all the Thai crackers and glass of wine, a small prawn toast basted in lots of sweet chilli sauce arrived at the table, it was nice but maybe needed a bit more prawn, something so small really needs to stand out. Still I cant complain too much given its complimentary. The selection of appetisers was a challenge to choose from, mainly because I wanted it all. I decided to go for the ‘Awesome Platter’ which showed off a selection of its appetisers, Nor mai farang hor bacon (asparagus wrapped in bacon), Thai satay kai (grilled chicken marinated in satay sauce with a cucumber relish), tod man pla (Thai fish cakes served with special house sauce) and koong hom pha (deep fried marinated prawns in pastry served with a sweet chilli sauce). The chicken satay was to die for and the prawns were meaty and succulent. Ive never been a big fan of Thai fishcakes, they are normally light, tasteless and very chewy, but not here, juicy, slightly sweet and have a delicious potent lemon grass flavour, a lovely change to the usual offerings in most Thai restaurants.I’ve had a craving for prawns recently and I just cant get enough of them, so the next dish certainly helped my craving. Grilled marinated king prawns with grilled vegetables and a sweet chilli sauce. The photo of these prawns does them no justice when it comes to size, they were huge! The owner manager said he was looking to source even bigger prawns, though I wish him good luck to find bigger. The prawns were juicy, meaty and had a lovely smokiness running through them, everything you could want, the vegetables were also cooked to perfection and had a lovely crunch. thefoodaholic.co.uk
Awesome Thai. This is a lovely restaurant with great service. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. We go there regularly as they are so lovely with our children. Try the fresh spring rolls they are a firm favourite in our family.
Most enjoyable will go again
