2 years on – As good as ever!. 2 years on from my last visit and I decided to pop down to London for my birthday weekend.I recommended Jack’s Place after last time and hoped it was still as good.We arrived around the time of our booking and were given the option of having a drink at the bar or being seated, we weren’t rushed at all despite them being quite busy. They were as friendly and accommodating as I remembered.There were 2 of us dining and both chose a starter, main and dessert from a basic but more than adequate menu. I was undecided about which steak to have and the lovely lady brought each cut of steak out to show us.The starters came out within 10 minutes, good size and enjoyable. By this time the restaurant was full but the staff remained attentive.The steak was great, medium rare, ideally cooked for me and the portion size of the potatoes and veg were good too. Home made cheesecake was our final course and was very nice. A complimentary drink of our choice was given to us to finish our meal. Brilliant!I can’t say enough good things about Jack’s Place and the family that run it. It’s definitely worth a try, you won’t be disappointed.18 Feb, 2010We went here for my birthday last week. Initially the place seems dated and old fashioned but Jacks Place has a good interesting history! Anyway, the steak here is really good! The veg was decent and portions were good size. The family that run Jacks Place are really welcoming and friendly, I had a good experience for my birthday and will definately be going back!

You know there is nothing more comforting than the feeling of being at home with people who care about you, well Jack’s Place wraps you in the atmosphere of years and years and YEARS of this kind of feeling warming many many people hungry for comfort, friends and really excellent food. Chosen from Billingsgate and Smithfield, prepared and cooked for you with care and pride, and an excllent and generous choice of heartwarming wine and whisky. You look at all the pictures and praise of and from presidents and philosophers from around the world and feel they have raised a glass with you, and your meal nourishes the spirit of the future great and good who will be brought to this special, special place in years to come. Do not wear a ridicululous tie, you may lose it to the collection which serves to decorate the aspirations of the place like herbs and spices hanging from the ceiling of other restaurants, making memories fragrant with the volatile affection of past carousing. Breath in, and ignore the ancient bloom on the silks.
