What a great place! My wife is Italian and thought the food was excellent…a truffle tagliatelle to die for and perfect pizza. We’ve been a few times now, always a great atmosphere, lovely staff and nice for a post meal romantic walk along the river!
Dire. My family and I had a 1pm booking and were promptly seated. 20 minutes later we were still waiting for someone to takes our drinks order. A party of five arrived after us and were given water, wine, bread and olives. Now, we can all see we’re this experience is going……I had to ask for water 3 times, upon which a very huffy waitress produced a carafe that had dried water marks all over. We did receive starters which were OK. The wait in between starter and main course was vast. We were completely ignored by the waiting staff who I approach twice to ask for some service. The party of five had been fed and watered by this time and and gone on their way.In utter frustration, due to the lack of service, we canceled our main. The manager was called out and asked what the problem was to which we responded that the waiting time was totally unacceptable. He gave us what we had eaten so far for free. He did not ask what he could do to rectify the situation. We left this establishment extremely disappointed. It’s a shame as the restaurant is on our doorstep and we would of been regular users had we been treated with some respect.Melanzane lost the custom of seven people without the bat of an eyelid. My opinion – DON’T GO.I dine out a lot and I have never experienced such treatment, ever.Poor show Melanzana. Pull your socks up if you want to succeed in this current climate.Shame on you!PS Melazana- the tables were dirty, with crumbs in between the grooves of the wood……our napkins were not replenished after the starter……clearing of the table after starters was only half done…….dirty carafe…….. Train your staff and an adjustment of attitude would not go a miss. YoursUnhappy from Battersea.
Seriously good. My first visit to this great little place. Fabtastic pasta, great red wine by the glass and one of the best coffees ever. Can’t wait to return.
Yummy in my tummy. I went to Melanzana last Monday for dinner and delighted with my meal. I had the Seppia pasta with Clams and Mussels as a main and Mussel soup for starter. The pasta was very different and delicious. I found out later, that Melanzana buy fresh pasta not the dried stuff.I was so stuffed that I could only split a dessert which was the home made Tiramisu.I didn’t have any problems with the service. I found the waiter very attentive and he explained the menu to us. We’ll definately return.
Friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended. Great atmosphere. A party of 6 of us went for a weekend lunch a week after it’s opening. All the tables were full and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal. We all certainly did. We met people who were there for their 3rd visit. The staff are efficient and friendly. The deli and take-away, which have a good selection of tasty looking Italian food, were also doing a good trade.
