Went for the first time yesterday with my family. We went knowing next to nothing other than there was a no menu policy and the cookbook is a good read. It’s not a huge restaurant but it’s simple and clean, and being sat next to the window at lunch was lovely as even on an overcast day it was plenty bright. Staff were very helpful. The only thing I’d say that is really worth taking into consideration here is that even if you tell the staff what foods you don’t like/can’t eat it won’t necessarily mean that you’ll like the food. I found it great, but a couple of dishes weren’t as popular with the people I was with. I don’t drink so I can’t say much on the wine selection but the teas they have were lovely. Summarily, it’s great if you want to go somewhere for a quiet, stress free meal. The removal of choice leaves you with this odd sense of anticipation for the next dish that’ll be brought out. And even with the number of dishes, the smallish portions mean that you’re unlikely to overindulge too early in the meal. I’m likely to go back, maybe for dinner or another lunch when the opportunity arises.

I love this place. Its a cracker, really interesting food that never disappoints and the welcome is lovely. It only scores 4 instead of 5 becuase the price is punchy andhas beenslowly go up and is consequently gradually pricing me out.But everyone should try it once.Trust me.I love the set up – just say what you do and dont like and they just bring you lots of different light courses until the finale – the duck. Virtually no carbs or rice. Just really tasty different dishes.

When I booked I was quite sceptical given that I’m a fussy eater and like to know exactly what I’m going to eat. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and the authenticity of the food. The chef even came out to check if everything was okay and replaced two dishes that I didn’t really enjoy. Been back a few times since and am constantly amazed at the new dishes that come out every time!

Poor food and overpriced !!. We were passing this restaurant at dinner time, so dropped in, though it is very small and cramped, we stayed which was a big mistake. This restaurant has a no menu policy. We were asked what we didnt want to eat and the owner decided the food. Rather than a surprise for nice food, a few small dishes were brought onto the table, they were all deep fried (beans, chicken, fish) and too salty. The bill was a shocking, 120 without any details for the food offered (we only had water) plus 15 enforced tip for two adults and a child. We will never go back to this restaurant again.

Unbelievably disappointing & overpriced!. It was the most over priced, way below average Chinese I have ever eaten! The Pumpkin Cake (deep fried balls of pumpkin filled with pumpkin pure) and the Spinach rolled prawns and also the deep fried aubergine wedges were all fried in old; used vegetable oil, with its distinctive unpleasant taste and smell! The plate containing the prawns was a pool of yellow thick smelly oil!Deep fried aubergine on a lettuce leaf… as a plate?! on a set menu? Out of all the exotic Chinese dishes? Why would you want to have deep fried aubergine wedges in a restaurant rated as one the best Chinese restaurants in London? We were served the same bland pork dumplings 3 times! Tasted like value pork sausage (size of a chickpea) wrapped in a thick Jiaozi like dumpling and steamed! The glory of the night however was the chicken and jelly fish plate! Extremely salty …Simply boiled (just boiled, no spice no herb no marination no slat or pepper) bland chicken with hardly recognisable strips of jelly fish, soaked in soya sauce … Minus the wine which was an extra 32 a bill for 112 including service for 2 people.

Arty farty Chinese. Yes, I like the idea of ‘let the chef make you what’s good on the day’ and when I went there, it started off well. The appetiser pickles were nice, the soup was very good and so our expectations rose high……but it all went downhill from there. Too many dishes with the same/similar flavour, unimaginative and miss-matching combination. If this is all the chef can do when let him be the creator, then I’d rather specify what I would like to eat and how it’s cooked!! Perhaps the chef had a bad day but with its price tag and uncertainty of not knowing what you’d get on the day, I don’t think I’d be going back
