ASK Italians can be found all over the UK, but this one is very special. This ASK is housed in the Grand Assembly Rooms which was built in the 18th century for social events like dancing and card games. It is still used by the council for events at different times of the year, and it’s possible to book out the hall for events, but it’s also possible to just sit and have a very reasonably priced meal in a historic setting. In terms of foods there are no surprises – you’ll be getting what you’d be getting in any ASK restaurant. It’s really the location that makes it an amazing experience, especially because you don’t have to pay exorbitant amounts to eat in such a location.I find it a good place to bring visitors if they get in to the train station close to a meal time because it’s almost the first thing after crossing Lendal Bridge and on the way to it you get to see great views of the Minster.I have also been part of a team that’s organised an event in the ASK Italian and have found the manager and his staff very accommodating and patient, and the event was a huge success.
