Stopped in for a quick coffee and snack on our stroll through Blackheath.I enjoyed an Americano and ate an amazing Ricotta Tartlette. It was baked deliciousness. Flaky pastry, Ricotta cheese, eggplant and roasted tomatoes. Very tasty. Everything in the shop looked amazing and I wanted to try it all. Great experience.
One of the nicest things about Blckheath Village is that despite being just in zone 3 of London, it has managed to retain pride in wecoming independent traders and businesses with relatively few chains taking over and I’m a big fan of trying out some of these small places. This has become one of my favourite spots for coffee with friends be it a mid week afternoon off or a bustling Saturday morning. They offer a great range of traditional French pastries, including plenty of classics and delicacies like millefeuille, tarte au citron, opera cake, tempting fruit tarts and those are just the ones I can recall from memory. You can also buy nice packs of meringues, freshly bakked cookies etc if temptation gets the better of you! As far as teas and coffees go, there is nothing very much to push the boundaries here and I think this might be an area they could develop further, perhaps introducing some more gourmet coffees, flavoured coffees and expanding their choices of teas. There is a decent amount of seating here both inside and outside and I’ve never had to wait a seat or look elsewhere unlike some of the other coffee shops in the area. The service is courteous but I would like to see it be just a little more personable and friendly. This is one of my favourite independent little bakeries full of delicious goodies for anyone with a sweet tooth (and a few quiche/sandwich and light lunch options for those with more savoury teeth!) whywasteannualleave.com
Friendly staffWe had a saucisson sandwich and a blt sandwich. A flatwhite and apple tart slice for 16gbp considering the area price was average. The decor is very cute looks like a little bakery with tables inside and outside. The counter has lots of appealing patisseries and some cakes for 21gbp. They had some baguettes amd fresh bread as wellMy saucisson sandwich was sliced in three pieces which made it easier to eat. The baguette was very fresh and saucisson good quality. My partner blt looked nice but had to much dry flour on it nonetheless still nice. The tarte was yummy just the way I like it the pastery of it was perfect. I really loved it.The flatwhite wasnt creamy and beans not good.Verdict go go but avoid coffee focus on the food the brownies looked really moist.
