This quiet corner of London – between Hither Green, Lewisham, Eltham and Blackheath – is lucky enough to have several good quality eateries and take-aways and Kebab Ye was a straight-forward, tasty kebab house. I visit regularly, perhaps weekly. But my two most recent trips over the last two weeks have been so very disappointing simply because the cooks, perhaps new as I’ve not seen them before, fail to listen to their customers. Despite asking for some tarama (on the menu) on my last visit a week ago and been promised it was on order, there still was none. OK, no big deal. Despite my (I bored myself) insistence on ‘pink’ or at least ‘medium rare’ lamb shish – 7.80 – on returning home with my takeaway I found a completely cremated and inedible kebab. Just like last week. One bitten twice shy but I gave Kebab Ye the benefit of the doubt. I was wrong too. Why oh why can’t takeaway cooks listen to their customers..?
