We popped into this restaurant after watching a movie in the cinema around the corner. As it was a Saturday and we went there after 11pm, the venue charged us a cover of around 10pounds or so to enter and go upstairs for shisha/drinks.The ambience of the venue was great we went to the outdoor garden rooftop, which was semi-covered so we wouldnt feel too cold. The inside bar area was initially quiet, but picked up fairly quickly after midnight with a range of fun, top commercial hits and people grooving on the dancefloor. The shisha was average pretty pricy and not as long lasting as we were expecting it to be. Moreover, service was not up to par, in my opinion, as a lot of the waiters/waitresses were either chatting amongst themselves or in their own world. We had to call them on several occasions for changing the coal, etc. However, the cocktails were pretty good I was told that theyre in the process of revamping their cocktail menu so look out for that!
Elysee is.. one of the most fun places in London!Must go there for a dinner on Friday/Saturday night.. very nice food (don’t take the menu if you can, it is definitely too much to finish it all) and very good entertainment!Around ten they start to put some live Greek music with dancers ecc.. really fun!The best part though is when everyone stand up from his table, get in the middle of the dining room, and start smashing dishes on the floor! Can’t describe how nice the ambience and the people are there.. everyone is just happy! Upstairs they also have a club with Greek music and a nice shisha bar.The restaurant serves dinner until 3am.Only problem: the place is really loud, not recommended for somebody that wants a calm night.
So came here the other night to sample the live entertainment and the Greek Cypriot food which I was excited to try Loving Cypriots food immensely. It was pretty good comparing with the food I eat authentically in Cyprus nearly hit the spot as they had a lot of traditional dishes cooked to perfection unfortunately the only downfall was the terrible service they were understaffed massively. And The show itself I was 50-50 about half of the show was brilliant traditional Greek dancing music and the other half is tacky with a not very good belly dancer and a not very good singer singing classic trashy wedding party tunes. Pricewise for five people we ended up spending 350 but we left very very full with a lot of meat in our bellies and a couple of bottles of good wine.
I recently took a husband here to eat who is very fussy and hard to please. I loved the ambiance. The staff members were welcoming and smiling. We opted for the deep fried liver to start and he had Lamb cutlets which she said were the best she’d ever had. We loved the food which was very well decorated and the ambiance. The staff members made our evening great with the smiling serving. We recommend it to others.
Elysee was my first experience of Greek food and it definitely did not disappoint. There was a group of 15 of us that went in for dinner so we went for the Meze option for starter, main and dessert. Everything that was served up was delicious and the food just seemed to keep coming! Lots of different flavours were served up in each course and it was all wonderful. For the main course there was a nice mix of different meats but the lamb in particular was very nice. When the fruit platter for dessert arrived I didn’t think I would be able to fit any more food in.We went in on a Saturday night and it was very busy but the service was always friendly and very quick. They also had on a live band which created a great atmosphere and definitely added to the evening. About halfway through the meal they got all of us up to dance and do the traditional plate smashing – it was great fun. If you have a special occasion or fancy a fun night out I would definitely recommend Elysee.
If you are looking for a light lunch and dinner this is the place. In the summer you can seat at the terrace and enjoy a leisurely lunch. In the Evening if you are looking for some Greek music you can join the band for traditional Greek dancing. However, usually the place is overcrowded and the music is definitely too loud for a restaurant. People smashing plates became quickly annoying.
Smashing plates is great fun and that is definately the main attraction of the place. When I went we were in a big group and ordered wrong (the set menu was terrible and overpriced). I guess the a la carte cannot be a world better so I would advise you to go for a drink upstairs (the bar is cool and has an outdoor section) and then go smash some plates with a few angry Greeks downstairs.
