Tastecard provides some great opportunities to dine on a budget. On the occasion I want to save a bit of cash, I get on my app and have a scan of what is in the area. On a Thursday night I was in London Bridge and having been flash with the cash at some great places such as Lobos and other tapas spots, it was time to be penny sensitive. Azzurro popped up and was on the other side of London Bridge in an area less saturated with restaurants. Azzurro is at the base of what appears to be an office building. If you wink you will miss it, as it looks like it could be the canteen for the offices at first glance. It promises fresh Italian food, so as I have had my fair share of good and bad Italian, I thought this could add to my journey of discovery. We booked en route, but didn’t really have to as it was not very busy. There were a few tables dotted around inside. There was also some seating outside which if it wasnt for the high rise buildings surrounding it, could get a decent amount of sun. On arrival, it looked like it was being used as the smoking area. The interior was very simple, yellow and basic. This is not a bad thing, as the clean lines is something that sits well with me. That said, I do like places with character too. The music they were playing was excellent, I will give that a mention as it seems like a good place to start if you mean to go out dancing afterwards. As we were there to take advantage of the 2 4 1 course for free, we opted to go to town and have two courses. I started with king prawns served with avocado, cos lettuce and spicy marie rose sauce. Now this is more of a British starter than Italian, but they could have got away with it. They didn’t because the avocado was not ripe, it tasted of rubber and it was majorly heavy on the marie rose sauce. It literally smothered the dish beyond recognition. I would recommend having the sauce on the side in a ramekin or perhaps a more delicate serving of the sauce. Eleanor had the classic caprese salad of fresh mozzarella, tomato, fresh basil and olive oil. Her starter was more acceptable and tasty. For main course I opted for the tagliatelle funghi which was with wild mushrooms, spinach, garlic in a creamy white wine sauce. To be honest, I did not hold out much hope due to my poor starter but I was really impressed. The tagliatelle was al dente and they were not stingy on the wild mushroom portion. It was lovely. Eleanor ordered the margarita pizza with an extra portion of ham. It was okay.As we neared the end of dining experience the most awful smell filled the room. A plumbing issue I suspect which is not that appealing when you are dining. I think they need to tweak the prawn starter and get the smell issue sorted. On the plus side, bravo for the best tagliatelle funghi I have tasted in a while. Yum. cookandpour.co.uk

Despite being italian food lover, but this restaurant is almost Ok for everything no more , i tried both pasta ,pizza & salad … Pasta 7/10 , pizza 5/10 (ordered with salmon but when they bring it they told us salamon not available) however they tried to charge me the whole price of pizza even it was not including the salmon) .. To be honest manager fixed it at last .. Last item was green salad which was not fresh & tasty and only contains olives , tomatos & rocca …That’s it !!!

Lovely place in close to London Bridge station, at Hays Galleria. Very close to the London Bridge station entrance. Staff is lovely and so is the food.

After roaming the entire day as we returning to our hotel room in the evening, we come across this small but wonderful looking restaurant just across the road. And since we were very hungry, we thought of paying this place a visit. So we enter this place and are already waiting to order the food.We ordered Pane All’aglio with Cheese and Caramalised Onions and Bruschetta for the starters. Absolute delight. For Pizza we ordered Margherita and Caprese. Absolutely amazing. One of the finest pizzas we have had.Was a bit pricey, but totally worth the money. Nexttime I come to London, I am certainly going here for sure.

Went to Auberge last night to find it had been replaced with Azzuro. Whilst Auberge food was ok for what you paid for, I wouldn’t have given a dog the food we ate last night! Service/ambience etc was fine (and I mean fine… just fine) the food was awful. Olives were out of a jar with no dressing. Pizza bread wasn’t rolled thinly enough/wasn’t cooked in a proper pizza oven so was soggy/soft underneath. My tuna main course was swimming in oil (not in a good way). It was actually an ok piece of fish so not sure why they covered it in tasteless sauce! My friend’s chicken was covered in a jar of Ragu! It was definitely out of a jar… If I’d wanted dolmio night I’d have stayed at home and saved myself 50!

Bella pasta!. We went to this Azzuro by luck, right after leaving Dungeon attraction. The food is honest, no big deal but it is not something that you are going to regret. The place is beautiful and the price is not scary as Dungeon.Worth trying!
