Turned up for some drinks in the cocktail bar, and was invited down through the kitchen into the speakeasy. A great experience for friends who did not know what to expect, colourful lanterns and bulbs pinned from the ceiling and along the walls give a nice sense of ‘homemade’ to the place. Cocktail menu was truly interesting with unusual ingredients, as one of my friends said ‘Nothing here is a safe bet’ which is kind of the theme for this speakeasy.The cocktails I had ordered were very nice, great service and the barman mixed these with ease. One of my friends was unfortunate enough not keep getting terrible cocktails, I tried each one she got and they tasted of watered down juice and alcohol, after a third attempt she moved onto wine, I assume this was due to one of the staff not being able to mix drinks properly.A booth was booked in advance, which was a great choice as it can get quite crowded, although it was supposed to be for ten people we could fit maximum of seven people which left some guest turning up and standing around in the archway. Maybe the bar could have done with some table service for the booths to increase drinks consumption and get some more sales. But that did not seem to be an option available.A fun night was had until closing when one of the staff came into the booth and started screaming at us to leave. which at this point there was about 4 of us left and we were all shocked at her attitude. She stated she had already told us four times to leave and that it was illegal to have us in past the hour(at which point this was 01:10). This never happened and it was the first time in the night that we had been told to leave the booth or bar. What she could have done was be to suggest that maybe we move toward the exit as it is now passed 1am. But she never gave us a chance. We immediately left in a bad mood. Also it ruined the atmosphere of the speakeasy for us all.
