This is probably one of my favourite places to visit for pretty and delicious pastries as well as one of the best hot chocolates in London. I stumbled across Lang on a cold and rainy day and I needed somewhere to get warm. Since then I have visited a handful of times and am never disappointed. The staff are fabulous and ever so helpful. This is off the beaten track and well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Little hidden gem for a relaxed catch up with friends for a coffee and cake. The iced valrhona chocolate drink is a definite must. Not too busy and service a tad slow.

  • Why Waste Annual Leave?

With many cafes and patisseries that I have been to around London, this was not one I had read about, heard friends rave out or even heard of to be frank. It just so happened that I was in the area walking past it when I saw a row of unbearably tempting cakes, which I simply couldn’t pull myself away from. And so we stepped in for a light savoury bite and of course – some cake. The staff were all smiles and very friendly and seated us quite promptly. They did seem a little busy as the service was a little on the slow side but they more than made up for this by how welcoming and friendly they were. There are a choice of lunch-time staples at the counter that you can order from such as a Mortadella panini and baguettes or alternatively, order from the hot menu choices – we kept it simple and opted for a light quiche and a sausage roll. Sausage rolls aren’t something I’m normally a fan of but when done well, they are the perfect comfort food! And both the pastry and the meat were perfect here with a scrumptious apple sauce on the side – I had serious food envy that hubby had ordered this and as lovely as my quiche was, I really wanted a swap! But the cakes were what had drawn us in after all and after much deliberation, we chose the matcha flavoured swiss roll style cream cake and a chocolate decadence, both of which were every bit as tasty as their beautifully-presented exteriors suggested. I washed mine down with the signature blend tea, which comes in several different choices of flavour and I went for the apricot white tea, which the staff told me is often served to hotel guests there.I really enjoyed this surprise find and will definitely be returning to try more of the delicacies (and another sausage roll!) A lovely deli for a light lunch or a spot of tea and cake. whywasteannualleave.com
