To carry on with Tapas theme. I went to Lobos Meat and Tapas yesterday before heading to Ally Pally. This little place is situated between Borough Market and the arches under the bridge. You might had walked pass it with a blink of an eye! This place was dimly lit interior with wood panels to put your hat or coat to hang but it had a warm feel to it. I was greeting in Spanish and chose to sit facing the entrance from the main road. They too instantly served me water and I ordered a 4 dishes; Padron peppers, Tortilla, Pan-fried Prawns & Squid and a mixed mushrooms. The padron peppers is a staple of Spanish appetisers which is cooked well and seasoned with sea salt. The Tortilla looked like what I am used to see that differs from Barrifina’s version. It contained potatoes, onions and peppers. But I cannot help to think it felt a little stoggy around the edges. The mixed mushroom had allsorted mushrooms cooked with croutons, tenderstem broccoli in truffle oil with a fried egg on top. I like mushrooms cooked this way as it brings out the fresh earthy flavour and the egg gives it a rich texture. The Pan-fried Prawns & Squid was cooked with chilli, garlic, grilled sliced lemon and fried basil leaves. This dish had a light citrusy tartness to cut the strong chilli and garlic leaving a mild hum after taste. It was the my dish of the day for me. The service was alright, I did go there towards the end of their lunch orders so they were looking for a slight rest before starting again in the evening. The question is would I go there again? Yes I would but I rarely venture around London Bridge anyway so this could be a one- off trip.
