Went in a group of 4 last Wednesday on the recommendation of a mate. Apparently this is a famous establishment which has a range of different craft beers everyday. A small place with half a dozen tables inside and the same number outside. But is it popular or what? By 1800, it was packed to the gills with people standing everywhere and not an inch to move. And all for the right reasons, the beer is great and varied. We tried a few and like all of which is something that doesnt happen too often. Definitely a place to drop by for their craft beers.
I would like to give The Rake more than 3.5 but I can’t quite do it. For me this was where exploring more unusual beers started as friends of mine were always fans of The Market Porter and this place is just round the corner. The beers are good but it’s sooo small. Great if you can get a spot, but rubbish if you can’t.
The place to go in London if you are remotely interested in beer, Rake has the most amazing collection of beer I have come across. Ranging from the Trappist beers to craft beers of the US, each one of the beers in their collection has been painstakingly sourced. Don’t go their if you like your Bud, go their to explore the unique delights that a beer might offer…
Fine beers and helpful staff. Lovely little hole in the wall ideal for a swift pint after a morning in Borough Market. They pride themselves on their knowledge of several hundred beers from around the world and I’d be happy taking their recommendation again.
