London Bridge is in the middle of a resurgence and TwoRuba Bar and Restaurant is part of that changing movement. The area around London Bridge station and More Riverside London has seen a plethora of restaurant arrive in the area to cater for the professional demand but there is only a handful of notable bars. TwoRuba throws it’s rather accomplished, sophisticated cocktail offering into the ring and delivers with a vibrant atmospheric and spacious bar that successfully bridges the transition between professional and leisure. The TwoRuba cocktail menu is innovative and balanced being packed full of reimagined classics, signature cocktails and exciting concoctions which are designed by TwoRuba’s mixologists. Located in the London Hilton Tower Bridge, TwoRuba is a hotel bar with a difference. A bar with a transformative aspect which shrugs off its corporate outerwear between the hours of 4-6pm. Part of the Destination Bar group with outposts across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. TwoRuba after a daytime geared towards everything professional comprising business meetings, coffees and business lunches; drops the lights after 6pm to a sultry dim level, lights up the candles and turns up the music with a current soundtrack guaranteed to up the ante.TwoRuba is a bar acutely aware of its mixed clientele – corporate business during the week and leisure guests at the weekend – and plays to this unique selling point. Business to a more casual vibe is achieved with comfy armchairs and sofas, polished service and a spacious bar area which can cater for parties of any size up to 200 people. The inclusion of the Snug proves to be an ideal location for an intimate celebratory occasion serving as an additional compliment to the multi-faceted nature of this bar. Available for hire for up to 30 people this is a fantastic space. Danny and his team provide a polished and welcoming service. With light moreish nibbles including almonds, wasabi peas and juicy olives the time flies by as you try cocktail after cocktail. The bar menu is from Jamie’s Italian and crispy squid and the Italian nachos – deep fried ravioli – were duly consumed and are a must. Where do you start with a menu where the cocktails have such enticing names such as Ruba Sling, Honeymoon, Between the Shifts, Hurricane, Spicy 50 and XXX Martini? Well you pick your spirit of choice vodka, rum, gin etc. and peruse the menu again and finally perhaps you try the Vanilla Killer – Absolut vanilla vodka, lime and sugar combined with the classic flavours of strawberry and mint for a sweet and refreshing finish – which was tangy, fresh and refreshing and the Blackthorn Sour – Sloe gin mixed with lemon, pineapple and apricot which is delicious fruity and smooth cocktail and garnished with an edible flower. Following a knowledgeable conversation with the clearly talented and sparky mixologist Roberto a spectacular flaming sharing cocktail served in a rose gold pineapple shell appeared before me. It was a cacophony of flavours packed with ingredients such a pineapple, orange, passion fruit and Wray and Nephew 70% overproof rum which was the flaming component. Final choices were the XXX martini – Absolut vanilla vodka, passion fruit juice, vanilla syrup – (no night is complete without a version of a pornstar martini!) and a Peach Star – Chase vodka, shaken with peach liquor, mango juice and fresh peach.Mentioned needs to be made of TwoRuba’s impressive and diverse wine list. Populated with favourites from around the world; both new and old world varieties. Accented with a selection of beers and hand-picked champagnes. There is choice aplenty for a work night out or for an evening with friends.Simply put; I know where I will be heading when the clock finally signals the end of the working day… cookandpour.co.uk
