Always used to walk past this pub after work and wanted to try it out. Finally got the opportunity and walked in all excited to have few drinks. The pub ambience was really good and as always had a lively crowd but the staff serving were totally unfriendly . Wasn’t brave to stick around and have food as well and unfortunately, i don’t think this pub would be a choice any time soon
Great pub in the middle of Borough Market, always busy and buzzing, with a good atmosphere. Great drinks selection, very good pint of meantime pale ale. Large outdoor area too, it even has display screens so you can check if your train is on time!
The good: lively, busy , comfortable after works pub. Quick getting a drink, good selection of beer. Friendly staff. The bad. The low rating is for the food. Crab sandwich was something deep fried, overwhelmed by the brioche bun and mayo. The sweet potato mash was bland and watery . The duck egg and ham, was more like a fried hens egg with two rashers of bacon. It was a shame as on paper the menu looks great. Just poor execution. So go for the beer and atmosphere not the food
Friendly pub. Modern pub with a vintage feel. Great place for a pint after having lunch at the Borough Market next door.
A perfect place to pop into for a quick bite. Do not be expecting the red carpet treatment in here. Simply roll in and get out attitude is served. And that is fine. The food is very easily and clearly laid out on the simple menu. No chance of the kitchen getting wrong I guess. A fool proof way of providing decent food at a decent level every time…
Great pub for lunch. It’s less popular (i.e. less rammed) than the Market Porter, but I actually prefer the Wheatsheaf. Really well kept beer (the Deuchars was excellent last time I went), and great doorstops for lunch, which choices like sausage or fish finger sandwiches. At the moment they’re doing 2 for 1 lunches during the week. There are loads of great places to have lunch in Borough Market and around, and this is one of the best.
