My friend and I had some Beefeater discounts on our card so we decided to use them up. We had just finished a hard days work so we definitely felt we deserved it. We opted for the Downshire Arms in Bracknell Forest. This is the local ‘pub grub’ for us both. It was a Saturday lunchtime and I would have expected the place to be busy but surprisingly it was steady, but not all the tables were full. I started off with a San Miguel beer which really helped quench my thirst. We ordered from the ‘Daytime Saver Menu’ and I ended up ordering the Vegetable Linguine and my friend opted for the Beer Battered fish and chips. The linguine was lovely, lots of roasted vegetables and a tasty sauce. There was also garlic bread on the side. I must admit I have had better linguine in my life but for the price I think it’s well worth it. My friend had delicious Beer Battered fish which the batter was light and fluffy. The chips were tasty and it came with a side of peas and tartare sauce. Then came dessert as we both could not resist the Caramel Apple Betty. There was plenty of Apple and it was super sweet which is exactly what we needed – comfort food after a very stressful day. I would recommend this place for traditional pub grub and very good value for money especially when you have discount vouchers to use!
After a day swimming in Coral Reef, fantastic attraction in Bracknell by the way, the stomach develops a mind of its own and a hunger like never before! Its placed just off the main road by a Premier Inn; wonderfully sunny day so we opted to sit outside, get that tan underway, which if you’re wondering, I’m doing well with!Inside Beefeater, it had a mellow feel to it but ultimately very pubby. I had a peri-peri chicken and I’ll tell you now, it was nothing as close as to what a Nandos should be, but it was okay and to be fair, I can’t really expect more! Service took quite a long time to come out but I think due to our hunger, it amplified that 50x haha!Oh yeah, the highlight of the stop was the Koppaberg Strawberry and lime
