Will go again. I did read the reviews on here before I visited Chilli Room but decided to give it a chance anyway because friends of mine said the food was lovely. I went along with another 5people last night and really enjoyed it. We only had to wait half an hour for food, which is very good compared to other restaurants waiting times on a Saturday night. The food was lovely and not badly priced, also the service wasn’t too bad either.
Tasty food. We have been to chilli room a few times now and the food is one of the best. We struggled to look for authentic Indian food for some time. Chilli room is certainly excellent. I am glad we did not pay too much attention to previous comments.
We waited for hours and then we were served non veg instead of Veg!. This incident happened today (08/Oct/2011). Firstly we waited for 2hours for order to reach our table. Then we ordered for Kulcha nan and we were given khemma nan (meat nan)! We are pure vegetarians by birth/religion. We were very hurt by this.When we reported this to the higher ups the response hurt us more! They said ”The restaurant is very busy and we are poorly organized”! Does anyone speak to the customers this way?The restaurant does not care for customers. Would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Good ambience, excellent menu. Thankfully I did not read any reviews from this site before going to the Chilli Room. I had a wonderful time there. The menu was refereshingly different from most Indian restaurants in Croydon. I especially liked the Lasuni Jhinga. The service was good despite being a weekend. Not sure why the bad press, but I will definitely be going back for round 2.
Deeply unsatisfied. As ever the proof of good service is what a busness does when something goes wrong. Due to bad weather our delivery from The Chilli Room was dealyed. Did we receive a call to explain that? Nope! So on first chasing (Where they called the driver & managed to speak to him with in seconds) we were advised he had left 20 mins ago & should be 10 mins. Understandable in slushy conditions. On second chasing (Now an hour & 15 after placing our order) again the driver was able to be contacted quickly & was 2 mins away & had got stuck. Would have been nice to be informed. I was advised to discuss reduction of the bill with the delivery driver. I explained that waiting 2 hours for delivery isn’t acceptable, neither is being kept in the dark & that I wasn’t willing to pay 28 pounds but felt 20 was fairer. The reply, 25 or nothing. And so I sent the order back. I raised my complaint with the restaurant again & was told they can see I am a repet customer & will look to compensate me should I order again. Quite a smack in the face. The food here is good but the service not so. A number of time they have missed things from the delivery. I’m never visiting again & suggest anyone who uses them keeps a keen eye out (But that is hardly the point of going out for a meal now is it?)
Appalling – DO NOT GO!!. I went to this place last year and I’m surprised it stayed open as long as it did!The food, service and general demeanour of the manager were atrocious. The service took a long time, food had us waiting for around 30 mins, and the manager did not want to hear anything from us when we questioned how long it would be.What’s really sickened me is that they had a rat infestation, clearly a lot of money spent on decor and none left for the business. Thank god they were closed down and reading the other reviews on the link we were obviously not alone.Avoid like the plague, or you may end up contracting it
