Restaurant is in a great location and is well presented on the inside. The food is very good, especially the steaks and it can be a very good meal with a tastecard as that gives you 50% off the whole meal. However, a discretionary service charge of 12.5% is added to the bill and it can be a rather large amount as it is 12.5% of the full bill before tastecard is accounted for. This isn’t too much of an issue as you can always ask to reduce it or take it off completely. The biggest problem I have with this place is that the menu clearly states that all prices include VAT. Once the bill came, I realised they added extra VAT on top of my food bill. I questioned the waitress on this matter who seemed entirely clueless and made up excuses on the matter. In hindsight I should’ve asked to speak to management about this issue as charging VAT twice is clearly not legal and this has very much tainted my view on this restaurant. The food is great and with a tastecard it can be very good value for money but sneaky charges such as the service charge and ‘double VAT’ left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Lovely staff, exquisite dinning with intimate atmosphere. Nice for a private birthday party. You get what you pay for in a positive way. I’d definitely recommend this for couples or business meetings.
Absolutely recommend – The Ribeye Steak and the Whiskey Cocktail with Ginger Ale/Wine.We just sat there and marvelled at the food. I have become a fan. It’s amazing how simplicity can bring about such an amazing experience.
If I was just marking the food it would be 5/5. I had the most delicious halibut steak I’ve ever had and one of my favourite dishes of all time. The cooking was perfection and came with saut potatoes and spinach. However, I’ve never been back. The reason was the service. We arrived early on a Friday evening, one of the first customers and they tried to put us on a really bad table, despite so many good located ones being free. We were then offered a better table upstairs but service throughout wasn’t great. The restaurant is fairly small, the decor uninspiring – white and clinical. Even though it did get busier and fill up there wasn’t much atmosphere. So all marks are for the food which I thought was very reasonably priced for a celeb name restaurant and this high quality. They do seem to offer some relatively cheap deals and set menus too.
It’s a date location, pure and simple. Chelsea is pretty, especially so close to Christmas, with brightly lit trees and little Paddington Bears adorning the route from Sloane Square down to Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse. As such I sauntered down King’s Road with the missus for a meal a couple of weeks back. Clearly, this was the general clientle of the restaurant: dating couples taking advantage of the cosy size and intimate atmosphere for a date night in December. We arrived and after minimum waiting, our attentive servers had us seated, and we ordered. For starter, chicken liver parfait. I was a bit unimpressed with it to be honest. At over 9 for what amounts to a bit of pate and two slices of toast, you’d hope to be blown away with flavour. Sadly, the combination was thoroughly unremarkable, far more bland than I would have hoped. Not a great start. The main course thankfully was a different story. I had the 10oz Tail on Rib eye with peppercorn sauce, which was absolutely lovely succulent, perfectly cooked, one of the better steaks I’ve had in a long time. The side of fries were fine unexciting rather than incredible. Overall conclusions: It’s alright, good even. What you’re really paying over the odds for however isn’t the steak or the ambiance or the service you’re paying for the name: Marco Pierre White, on King’s Road. With that in mind, the over 80 price for the food for two is certainly something to leave a slightly unpleasant aftertaste on what was otherwise a perfectly pleasant, if uninspiring experience.
On a quiet Sunday evening, I went here with my boyfriend for a spot of dinner. And we were not the only couples who shared that idea as the modern intimate decor coupled with the infamous reputation of the restaurant makes it an ideal location for dates. The service was quick as the waiter immediately took our coats and ushered us to our seats. For the starter, I had the potted confit duck which I definitely recommend as a starter if anyone is stuck for choice. It was delicious. For the main, I opted for a medium rare sirloin steak. The main was a let down from the starter as the steak was more cooked than what I would have liked. Aside from that, the food was lovely.
A nice little treat that achieves everything you would expect of Marco Pierre White’s Chelsea Steakhouse.Small and cute. Good contrast between highly professional experienced head waiter who knows his shit and the v young lad whose naive youth leads to pronunciation of ‘Madame’ in a French accent.Really good creamy rich kipper pt to start, could have eaten that all night. The generous portion of chicken liver parfait also on point. Steak satisfied my expectations of a 28 cut – hard to use an adjective other than succulent – and though it’s hard to get Peppercorn Sauce wrong, it was still top notch. Veg of a good to decent standard too.Could have picked any of the puddings – it was like the ultimate line up for me – but got a nice end to the meal w/ the cheesecake.Lovely place where you get your money’s worth for an mid-upper price West London meal, though don’t come to be blown away.Luxury dining isn’t necessarily your first thought when arriving at the exterior’s common font and window full of fairy lights. Though this lack of pretension becomes a key theme from start to end, as excellent service and fantastic food in a pleasant, intimate environment make for an all round decent experience.
