Ah, an evening of complete randomness.I decided to walk for 35 minutes to The Old Ship at night. That decision was made too lightly, and I remember thinking this exact thing when I walked through a forest, alone, at night, by a river. Then I remembered it wasn’t a murder mystery and trudged on ahead.I was the first to arrive (as usual), and it was only me, a table of 8 and a couple who looked like they were breaking up.Once my friends decided to turn up, we were approached by a charming lad and invited to partake in the pub quiz! Now we hadn’t eaten yet, and we didn’t want to leave the dining area, so they brought the pub quiz to us. How hospitable!Half way through the quiz we received our meal. I ordered a vegetarian Sunday roast. The actual veggie wellington was a bit too salty for my taste. But everything else was absolutely delish. Especially those stunning roasted potatoes. The staff were lovely, the food was lovely, I had a great Sunday evening and would recommend you go as a family or group of friends.
Excelent location. Very nice venue and good food. I had the pork belly and it was to die for. The mashed potatoes were fine but not at the same level than the pork. Very relaxed staff and crowd.
I have been in the Old Ship around 3 weeks ago , I have meet a couple of friend who are living in Richmond so we found a place in the middle of our way home .And I was kindly surprise to find this lovely pub with an stunning view on the river , we decide to eat there I took an huge fish and chips really crispy with not to much oil , some of my friends took an hamburger that apparently was big and tasty , the only think that I have to highlighting is that we didn’t know that in Sunday they were doing quiz so for us was a bit noisy because we were talking about some business but was fine and we enjoyed a lot .I think that for a summer Pimm’s or beer is the perfect place where chill , and the area around is peaceful and really great even for a long walk or run.
Adam. I have eaten twice at the old ship in the last 6 weeks. Neither of which have been great the first was not impressive at all slow service and cold food. So we went for a second time to give it the benefit of the doubt, a group of us had several sunday roasts which came out barely warm and all had to be returned. Good drinking pub but cheap food with a big price tag. Far better places to eat in w6.
