While I know I have definitely eaten Amaretto food, I can’t say it was memorable enough for me to remember or keep going back.Perhaps this is because I chose to get a takeaway and after reading the other reviews here, a big part of the experience seems to be going to the restaurant and experiencing the staff and atmosphere. The food was good and generously portioned but I think I’ll have to pay a visit to see how much the atmosphere elevates this.

Amaretto is a small and slightly cramped affair, with the tables close together. The reason they need to do this, is because it’s so damn busy all the time – a very popular mix of good tasting, reasonably priced food. It is an Italian restaurant which offers a good range of food which *isn’t* just pizza, but don’t worry, the pizza’s good too. Despite the fact it is full most of the time, the waiters are attentive and you will be served fairly quickly. It is one of the few places I ordered a starter, main and desert because I was just spoilt for choice. I recommend the mussels and calzone combination for a thoroughly hearty meal.

Hi there guys,When I think back to all my experiences at Amaretto, I cannot think of a meal they got wrong, where service was awful or where the whole night was catastrophic. Amaretto can be seen as the ‘Mr. Reliable’ of all restaurants. Not only do they serve gargantuan portions, fit for a king, but they maintain a high quality, something which is hard to do in many restaurants. My meals there have ranged from Spaghetti Bolognese with Veal to Margherita Pizza and even to the Penne Arrabiata, all of which were of the utmost quality. This restaurant is aided by the excellence of their staff, who always seem to be full of delight and are nothing but polite. (Yes, i do realise that rhymes). The lighting and general atmosphere too is also good. Yes the customers are relatively elderly, but this does not impede the overall experience. After all, the chances that you bump into someone you know there is quite high, so you could always pop in for a chat too!To add the cherry to the top of the cake, they also deliver. This great restaurant, ideal for all occasions whether it be a couples night out or a lunch stop with the family.

If you walked past Amaretto on a Saturday night, you will see grandmas. Perhaps not yours, but somebody’s. And just like your grandmother’s very own kitchen, Amaretto serves up good, unpretentious grub at fair, fair prices (yes, my grandma charges me for food. Doesn’t everybody’s?).Now, I’ve been to Amaretto a number of times, but one particular occasion does stick in the memory. I hail from the suburbs of north London, and a couple of school friends decided to stage a bit of a get together in Edgware. Where to eat? they hooted. Follow me, I exclaimed, and led them to the bottom of the high street where Amaretto is to be found. Upon walking through the doors to the inevitably busy dining area within, you’re greeted heartily by the staff. They may have never met you before, but they’re already your friend. They’re delighted to see you. Of course, they would be, you’re a paying customer. But they seem to have no shortage of those. Then again, is this in no small part a result of their genial attitude? On this occasion I seem to remember getting a basic cheese and tomato pizza with mushrooms. They didn’t get it wrong. They never seem to. As always, the pizza was a wholesome size, the ingredients fresh, the taste sincere and true. I’ve had many things off the menu over a number of visits, and they don’t tend to drop the ball, come pizza or pasta, rain or shine. But what I think is most memorable about Amaretto is, quite simply, the atmosphere. Yes, it may be full of elderly folk. But these are talkative folk, happy to wag their chins, having a hearty meal – and this serves to create a relaxed and hearty atmosphere. You’ll have a sociable time in Amaretto.Screw Flanders.
