I go here nearly all the time with friends, always get Sex on the Beach and next I’ll try Porn Star Martini when I come back from the Philippines!! Last time I had three meals under 20 with tasty and juicy chicken in each dish! I love it there
In the past, I’ve found this place convenient for informal breakfast meetings due to proximity to Denmark Hill, and very good value. The beer garden looked enticing this evening until we found the grass covered in smashed glass; not ideal for a young family. However, they do have a separate dedicated family area, presumably without smashed beer glasses. Staff mostly friendly.
Just another traditional English pub with standard English menu. Not a wow factor but ideal for a quick meal in a rainy or sunny day. My salad came without any dressing and only vineger was available on the table with the other sauces ketchup, mustard etc … So I asked for olive oil or vinagreete dressing but they brought a mustard based mayo salad dressing ….. When would this pub chefs learn to dress properly salads!!!?? The staff was friendly.
Great breakfast, very cheap, with all-you-can drink coffee, popular with builders looking for calories and all-day drinkers. Lunch doesn’t quite hit the same notes. Mean with the chips. Playground for the kids.
Located a mere two minutes walk from Denmark Hill station, this pub is a frequent haunt for all people living in the area, especially the students living in the King’s College Hall of residence. The atmosphere is quiet and suitable for having a pleasant conversation over a meal or a drink. Student discounts are available, making it all the more appealing. The food was average, what one could expect from a typical pub. It is an apt place for people looking to drink a lot or who are on a low budget. It is definitely one of the cheapest pubs I have visited in relation to the prices of drinks.
Just…. Your bog standard Weatherspoons… Beer Festival is worth going to, but other than that it’s best avoided. Such a shame, as it’s a great building with lovely outdoor space right next to Ruskin Park.
