Mixed impressions. I’ve had the lunch buffet a couple of times. The food is very nice, and good value at the advertised price of 6.95. Unfortunately if you read the small print (or rather the small stickers attached to the menus) you find out there’s a 10% service charge added. I know it’s not obligatory to pay for service but charging it for a buffet is a bit close to sharp practice: the amount per head is small but the benefit to the restaurant over a lot of meals is potentially a lot.The second time I visited they tried to charge me for a pot of mint tea for 4 people when I was on my own – all of a sudden a bill which should have been just under 10 for a buffet and drink, including service, became 12. Be warned and be ready to check your bill (and insist on a written bill so that you can check it, rather than relying on random tapping on the calculator) otherwise your meal might leave a bad taste…
Tim. Went Friday. Was not told restricted to the Christmas menu. It was the biggest rip off ever. 2 dips with 1 samosa and another dried up to dip. A chunky of stringy meet and 2 potatoes for main and all for just 200. An absolute joke
Good to be back. I stopped going to Azouma a long time ago, but one of this days, I just passed in front of the restaurant windows and saw a full restaurant.Even if it was half past one in the afternoon, out of curiosity, I went in just to have a look. I was presented the lunch time buffet they have every day and I just fell in love with this restaurant once again.I don’t know exactly what they changed since two years ago, when I last went there, but I have to admit it was the best lunch I ever had. Surprised as I was, I booked for dinner in the same day, and when I got there, at around half past seven, the restaurant was completely transformed. The beautiful flickering of the candle light, the rose petals on the tables, the ambiance and the way the staff just knew how to make you feel comfortable and like in a journey through Morocco. This is not the Azouma I knew 2 years ago.Thank you to all the team for bringing back on of Canterbury’s finest restaurants.
Avoid. Thought id try this place unfortunatelyi will not be returning. To start we were put on a table in what must have been the entrance hall so every new customerbumped into us and the were other seatsavailable. The food was a bit bland but ok but the staff seemed quite disrespectful
Slow, Understaffed and Bad. Blimey, Where to start! It took ages to get served once we were seated, starters took and hour. My chicken was severely undercooked, and others complained that the food was very greasy.Another hour after starters were eventually cleared our mains arrived. not great.Terrible service.Oh, there is a buffet, which will be quicker, but people with dreadlocks cough in it!do not go here.
The meze platter was fantastic! The harissa was just fantastic! Tagine was brilliant and the baklawa was just perfect! Excellent food and service at an excellent price!
