Not recommended. The Minnis is in a good location overlooking Minnis Bay and maybe fine for a drink, but I certainly would not recommend eating there. The main restaurant on the ground floor is tacky. The carpet was filthy and lots of the leatherette chairs were so badly worn they should have been thrown out years ago. This wasn’t Shabby Chic it was just Shabby. It also bore no resemblance to the stylish advertising we had seen in various magazines. I actually wish I had not eaten here, but we had a long walk and were hungry. I foolishly ordered half a lobster with prawns. The tiny prawns did not look fresh I suspect they were frozen. I managed to get a morsel of edible white meat from the lobster claws but that was it. There was some dried up meat in the shell that just wasn’t appetising. I couldn’t eat the slimy salad that came with it. The potatoes were basically the only decent bit of the meal. We were not alone in our discomfort as the people at the next table were sending food back. We got our bill and left as quickly as we could trying not to laugh too much at the autographed pictures of famous chefs on the wall, who would most likely be as horrified as we were if they ever set foot in this place. noexpert.co.uk
