The estimate here of 50 for two with drinks is only accurate if you drink a hell of a lot. The food at the Good Mixer is pretty decent and the chef makes an effort to put some interesting dishes on the lunchtime board, but they aren’t particularly expensive, so probably more like 25-30 for two with drinks.It’s also a nice spot to have lunch as it’s not that busy during the day and gets plenty of sunlight on the corner down the end of Inverness Street.The pub itself is my favourite Camden watering hole. It has a great jukebox and a couple of pool tables. It is as unpretentious as a pub can be and has had its share of Camden identities frequenting it over the years (Amy Winehouse, Radiohead, Blur.. Shane McGowan was punched by someone in the toilets there). It tends to really come alive at night and has a sane clientele, who like their music and their pool but don’t go completely nuts on the booze.Having said that it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, being quite grungey. It is also situated more or less in the epicentre of Camden’s drug dealing strip, and the pub is staunchly anti-drugs. So if you’re a bit fidgety and look like you’re heading to the toilets to do something nefarious the staff will quiz you and if they’re not satisfied politely ask you to leave the premises. Which, of course, is a good thing.A relaxed Indie favourite.
