Authentic and Atmospheric. This is a very popoular little restaurant in Chelmsford and the food is always first class, atmosphere is cosy and it is very reasonable too. Waiting staff are so friendly, it has a very ‘family’ feel and although I love shaslik, I tried their dhansak last week and that has to be my ‘regular’ from now on. My friend Tracey introduced me to the restaurant and staff, she loves the hotter dishes and really enjoys the Dhansak – tikka masala.
For me it’s definitely the best Indian restaurant in Chelmsford and I’ve tried them all!! Whenever, I have been to Shahjan for a meal the food has been delicious and authentic. You can taste the mesmerising spice blends and quality ingredients which make the currys far superior to other restaurants in the area. The service is excellent with knowledgeable waiters happy to help and recommend. The atmosphere is also what makes Shahjan unique as your always treated as a valued friend not just customer. It makes going out for a curry special. If you have never tried Shahjan then your missing out.

The best indian I’ve been to by far. As you walk you, you get a sense that this is a true Indian restaurant. The food is amazing, by far the best I have ever had, there is a huge range and the chef is very accomodating to individual needs. Honestly I can’t stress enough how good the food is. The service is also fantastic with a friendly warm atmosphere, and the staff are knowledgeable and provide great hospitality. Prices are incredibley reasonable as well, I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
