Dire.. I usually love Pizza Express and find it an excellent fail safe for consistently satisfactory service and food. However it would not be an overstatement to say that I was appalled by my recent treatment at the Chertsey restaurant and I will not go back. Ever. We arrived at 1.50 and assumed this would be ok as they serve all day. We were greeted by a huffy little diva who pronounced, with a flutter of brow and wan hand wave across the forehead, that they had JUST finished the rush and he was SO tired. However, he gamely wiped us a table, gave us gesture (poor lamb was exhausted) and then threw some cutlery at us, explaining that he wasn’t going to lay the table as we had a baby who would mess it up. He then disappeared. For thirty minutes. During this time he walked past us over ten times and cleared three tables. He got himself a coffee and chatted to his manager. And we waited. The manager came out and surveyed the tables. She saw us then went to talk to some friends. This continued in the same vein for the thirty minutes until we left. They saw us leave and did not as why. I will now be returning to Casparis in Chertsey. A much safer bet.
