Arirang felt quite the traditional Korean restaurant. We had the grill bbq and assortment of sides including the pancakes. Everything was fine, but there was nothing that would draw me back here. It felt like it was stuck in an era and never really progressed after being the first kid on the block. The price point was dearer than I expected overall.

It’s nice and well catered, the BBQ was really tasty, it can be quite expensive if you are in a tight budget. The staff was really friendly and the restaurant looks very cosy itself.

A quite nice place to eat. Very warm welcome. I ate Jung Bab and Tobbokki. Quite spicy but very nice. Quite affordable too since it’s located in Oxford Street

The restaurant is named after the word Arirang, which derives from a Korean traditional folk song. Opened in 1975 as the first Korean restaurant in the UK. A family run restaurant focusing on Korean BBQ, popular for the locals and Koreans, and able to cater for private parties up to 30. Chap Tang Bab consists of shrimps, sliced squids, beef, mushrooms and vegetables with rice and soup. Kimchee Jige below, Kimchee soup with pork, rice, side dishes and soup. There were only 2-3 pieces of pork though in the entire bowl, not sure if its worth getting. Basically, you cant not have Korean BBQ when it comes to eating at Arirang, its almost compulsory! We had a selection of a few different types. See picture captions. Unfortunately we didnt actually have a great experience with this place, the service used to be so much better. Momo ordered a bibimbap and they forgot about it, and 45 minutes in we were still waiting. Once the bibimbap was brought over, it was the wrong type but we didnt want to follow it up any further. eatwithsteph.com

There are a lot of poor to average Korean restaurants in London (We’re still on the hunt for an amazing one). Arirang serves good Korean food, not the greatest we’ve had in our lives, but much better than a lot of other places we’ve tried in LondonWe’ve been here a couple of times, but only ordered the meat on rice kinda dish (bibimbap, bulgogi, bbq meats on rice). We didn’t try their Korean BBQ.Food is nice and reasonably priced. Good service. Cute orange segments at the end of your meal. The place is a bit smoky (like all BBQ places are) so don’t bring nice jackets. operationgoodfood.wordpress.com

This was my fifth and last attempt to like Korean food 🙁 This place is highly over rated, expensive and laim. Kimchi was not fresh, dumplings in soup were broken and tasteless, tempura was bland and the bbq meat was very salty, not to mention a bad selection of beers!

An excellent introduction to Korean food for a virgin. The pork belly was warm with the tang of black peppers; cuttlefish was spicy again not too hot, but just right. Food arrived a little at a time served by incredibly polite staff. Not too keen on the Korean beer ‘Hite’, but one can’t have everything. We were sat downstairs, where the discretely modern decor did not distract from our indiscrete neighbour’s self congratulatory preening to her aunt. Loud neighbours are, unfortunately one of the crosses to bear when eating out in London. All that being said, this was a great meal in a fab new (to me) restaurant.
