Assa used to be one of my favourite Korean restaurants. Assa has become hugely popular, often with queues outside their branches. As a result, I feel the food is no longer consistently good but rushed. On some occasions, the ox tongue (my favourite) is burnt, other times the slices are too thick making it difficult to chew. At times Assa is great and at times not. Although it must be noted that their portion sizes are slightly bigger than their competitors.Dishes I generally order & recommend: – Seafood pancake- Marinated beef & kimchi stew- BBQ ox tongue- BBQ ribs- BBQ pork belly (spicy)However, their prices are no longer considerably cheaper than other Korean restaurants in the area which means I’m more tempted to a competitor where I know the food is consistent than risk going to Assa where the food could be a hit or miss.Note: With the closure of their Tottenham Court Road branch (blame Crossrail expansion), I suspect the Soho one will be even more busy so be sure to book if you’re going for dinner! maomeetsmeat.wordpress.com
We couldn’t choose we wanted to seat. We was told the chef was on a break so we have to wait half an hour until we can order. The food came slow and the staff forgot about my drink even though I asked twice :/ and then when the bill came they couldn’t even tell us what we ordered because me and my friend wanted to pay separately . I like the spicy beef pork tho
I recently tried this Korean place and was pretty disappointed with it. The food was just average and nothing worth the price it was charged for. The food quality was quite bad which was a tad bit disappointing. The service was fine and the ambience was also decent but none of them could make up for the bad food quality.
The place is a bit rushed as are all other Asian restaurants in the city. The atmosphere is not that great and the tables are not very well-placed. The food here is absolutely delectable though. All the dishes are flavorful and very well prepared. I would definitely recommend this place for a lovely culinary experience.
I went to this place all alone to gorge on some beautiful Thai/Korean food. I ordered gimchi soup with rice and pork. The soup was served in a small bowl enough for one person. It tasted just okay. they also served sides of beansprouts and seaweeds which were not really great. I won’t be going back to this place!
We decided to try out this place as we saw a huge crowd outside waiting to be seated. However, this place did not live up to our expectations at all. We decided to try the popular Korean dish bibimbap. The dish that arrived was very tiny in portion and had no taste at all, the worst we have had. We will not be returning here. Avoid this place.
I have heard a lot about this place and finally had planned to pay this place a visit earlier this week. The whole experience of being at this place was pathetic. The staff members were very rude and not at all coordinated and hence their service lacked. The pricing as compared to the portions of food served is way too high. The decor is average and the ambiance is fine. Nothing about this place is different or authentic.
