Highly overrated place – the pho was very average with the broth lacking the right amount of flavour and herbs that one expects and the rolls we ordered were also pass – has the elderflower cocktail which was good – quite disappointing given the fanfare and the reviews –

Clearly the worst Vietnamese food I ever had!We ordered a combination, noodle and Wok mains but we received Indian currys. The starters, seafood and vegetarian platter were overpriced for what was served, in tiny portions. The same for the rice. One of the staff promised to remove the currys from the bill which never happened. Over 90 pounds for something I would not eat for free, nor force on any person I value. Each in our group of 4 people had 3 bites and all decided it was inedible.it was so terrible. When we gave feedback to staff again their response was sorry we feel this way but thats the food- you can pay now.Oh yes, and the bathrooms are disgusting, ripped up floor, mouldy, rotten sink area, no soap.. clearly unsafe and unhygienic.Staff had a chance to deal with our complaint on site but they failed, miserably.I have eaten Vietnamese food for 25 years in different countries, spent longer periods in Vietnam trying dozens of restaurants with locals, had Vietnamese friends cooking, yet this was a shocking experience. Never Cay Tre again!
Had the lunch set menu that’s available from 11-5pm, choose a main course and a side for 11 which is a good deal considering the normal pho is 11. *sticky chicken roll* The sauce is made from melted malt sugar, which is too sweet for my liking*prawn summer roll* Had a nice strong mint flavour which kind of masked the taste of prawns. Again the sauce was too sweet they didn’t give the fish sauce *beef pho* The broth was nice but again on the sweet side, the meat was nice and tender and they gave a good portion. The noodles were slightly over cooked but still alright. Overall much better than some other pho I’ve had in London
On a visit to the beautiful city of London I was specifically looking for a change and more diversified cuisine and this place came highly recommended!Located on Dean street in soho the place is surrounded by many other F&B choices but this place does have a wait list and a crowd that I think travel specifically for the Vietnamese food. The decor isn’t all that great, but the food taste makes up for it. We were a party of four and we tried many items on the menu and were all great. For just a little better decor this place will be an easy 10/10.
Dropped in for late night supper, it looked busy & it smelt good. The service was very good and the food was enjoyable. Reasonably priced and portion sizes generous. Wouldn’t necessarily visit again but no complaints either.
