Have sampled a variety of pastries at Chinatown bakery and the quality tends to be hit and miss though the pricing is a steal as you can walk away with 5-6 items for 10 quid. I’d say as a rule of thumb to stay away from the breads and to hit up their pastries. Savoury pork pastry and Hong Kong style egg tart are highlights. instagram.com

This place always smells so good when you walk past it! I always come here to buy my red bean bun – the other bakeries that make them just aren’t the same or as nice! It’s quite small inside but you’ll find a variety of sweet and savoury buns to beautiful celebration cakes from 15. makebaketravel.blogspot.com

This little bakery is always crowded and for a good reason. Even if the tayaki aren’t exactly the best you can get, everything else on sale here is scrumptious! from sweet to savoury you can find the best fusion of western breads and pastry with Asian flavours. I’ve fond memories of of these snacks from my time in Japan and been able to taste them again with a cup of tea is the best thing I could ask for.

This is an amazing chinese style bakery, it brings me back to the innovative bakeries in Hong Kong or Singapore. Using asian tastes with western styles baking. The waffle fishes outside seem like the major attraction to most people walking by the bakery but inside is where the magic is. The chicken curry puff is incredible, people first tasting this incredible creation will be very confused by what it is but believe me, you need to try it. Furthermore, the random pastries that I tried are incredible, just try everything. The prices are very low so its easy to explore everything. With a bubble tea there is no better snack in london.

So, Taiyaki are adorable little carp pastries, served piping hot and filled with yummy custard! Not gonna lie, my ‘dining’ experience at Chinese Bakery was very much driven by the novelty of such a cute snack– and they ARE indeed cute! Each little pastry is made fresh in an odd iron baking contraption. The top pops open to reveal the sweet little carpies inside, nestled up like little gold nuggets. The flavour wasn’t anything spectacular, but they are tasty and warm. I kept thinking about my little niece and how much she would adore them! Definitely would make a great party treat for a kids birthday party!
