Not bad , hearty size for the Pork Katsu Curry which the Internet had been recommending. Good size, rice was soft and sticky, the breaded pork was okay not amazing. A bit lack in flavour. But there was plenty of sauce. The miso soup was very good. The walls though could really do with a good wipe down and clean. A little off putting. I know it’s meant to be a hole in the wall, no frills but it has its limits.

This little one used to be a Ramen shop called Ryo which I would normally recommend to anyone wanting to try out some real Ramen. I saw that the venue had changed and wanted to see whether the food was just as good. I had feared that this mew place would not live to my expectations.Obviously I needed some Edamame (for the ones that dont know what this is, its boiled soybeans with a pinch of salt, quite lovely. They dont taste anything like peas. If youve never tried them, dont be a chicken/cheapskate and try some)Gyoza was alright, not too oily or too mushy. And you could get this little side dish for just 3! It was unexpectedly delicious, the pork was very well done and quite moreish. But obviously I cared little about gyoza or side dishes. What i wanted was Ramen! All in all, it was a good ramen. Certainly different from the old Ryo Ramen, and not quite sure if for the better. The noodles were slightly thin, whilst i prefer somewhat thicker noodles in Ramen.Whats Ramen? Its basically a big bowl of noodle soup, with fried meat and veggies. The soup itself should be made by boiling cow bones (or chicken bones) for a period of time, then seasoned well. They also come with boiled eggs, which i prefer hard-boiled rather than the medium boiled that I got. secretemple.com

Ok Japanese Ramen in London in 2013. I am from Japan and I have been looking forward to have proper Japanese ramen in London for quite while 9years! Finally I was so glad to hear the news of opening the ittenbari in April 2012.I went to Ittenbari for Lunch with my husband when they opened few days after. We ordered shio(salt) ramen ,shoyu(soya sauce) ramen and Gyoza. I didn’t like shoyu ramen and gyoza. Just get Shio ramen which they are specialized for! It’s proper Japanese ramen which I get in Japan! Anyone who likes Japanese ramen, Try this!Their service was very slow . It took 25mins to get the food to come out. In Japan ususally it would take in 10-15mins Max. I’ll go back soon.Additional info in 2013. Recently my friends visited there and they changed the ramen. It has gone down….sadly… After this news,I don’t want to visit anymore…

Fairly solid and definitely cheap. We found the food at Ryo a bit hit and miss. My mixed sashimi was delicious – properly sliced chunks of cold fish, tasty and served with the usual wasabi. However, the edamame had been over-cooked and weren’t salted enough. My boyfriend said that the ramen was good, as was the won ton soup, and my stir fried chicken and veg, while looking unappetising, was incredibly tasty. Essentially things taste better than they look here!

Cheap but disappointing. Two of us turned up on a weekday just after 9.30 and staff were clearly disappointed as they had already started tidying up + general cleaning. On a cold night, we fancied a hot bowl of ramen as well as picking a few sushi but were told it was too late for any kind of fish (nigiri, rolls, sashimi etc) so we had no choice but ordering two ramen only.20 minutes later two young girls turned up and after spending ages ordering their food at the entrance, I was baffled to see they were served different kind of sushi on a nice wooden cutting board… Unfortunately the ramen soups we eventually got were quite poor compare to japanese standards, the meat especially had a very weird colour. Guess we were just unlucky and turned up on the wrong day at wrong time. Perhaps I’ll give Ryo another chance, after all it’s only a tenner.
