This is one of those old school, independent restaurants. Family owned, quite friendly and a bit laid back. I liked it enough to go more than once. The decor is very busy, the walls covered by old posters and heavy mirrors. The overall effect is not bad though. The food is good Turkish/Lebanese fare. Portions were above average and prices are attractive. I liked the babaghanoush and hummus starter very much indeed. (Yes, there are complimentary olives and bread!) Among the mains, my favourite is the Iskender kofte, well grilled meatballs on a bed of rice, garlic/tomato sauce and yoghurt. Really one of the nicest dishes I have ever tasted. My fellow diners tried the seafood special (served with mash) and more tame options like the shish taouk. No complaints. I tried Turkish coffee for the first time here, and nearly downed the sediment along with the centimetre high liquid in the shot glass. Interesting experience though.
Very decent mediterranean food with a three course menu for 8.50! if you’re lucky enough you can enjoy the meal in one of the two tables on the street and roast under londons’ sun.
