We hogged at this place, literally! We ordered the duck which wasn’t very great, tom yum soup was good and authentic to taste. Seaweed was cold and chewy did not enjoy it at all. The lamb was very delicious and best in the menu. Would surely recommend this place.
Appalling service. I booked for a Saturday meal with a male over the telephone. I told him I had a Groupon to which he said that is fine. When I arrived a lady took my name and told me to follow her downstairs. I then proceeded to follow her to which she started to speaking to someone else in their language. Another lady said she will take us. A group of men then came with luggage, this lady then started to speak to them. We were then pushed out of the way so they could store their luggage where myself and the children were standing. I then asked what is going on as we stood there a further 3 minutes. A man then told me to follow him as he could see we were getting annoyed. When seated I told him to bring the bottle of wine that came with the Groupon and I would see what the children wanted in the meantime. I was then told they do not take Groupon on a Saturday. He then spoke to his colleagues in their language while they kept peering over at the children and I, making us all feel VERY uncomfortable. I told him the lady upstairs already confirmed my Groupon booking. He ran upstairs at which I followed. He claimed my name was not on the list so I would have to pay and come again during the weekday with the Groupon, I pointed my name out to him and he then said OK. I waited a further 15 minutes then asked again for the bottle. It was then brought to me after another 10 minute wait. The starters were all ordered and they came separately, this meant that by the time we all started they were cold. This was the same with the meals.Once finished the children went to get their friends who wanted to have dessert with us. I went upstairs to call their parents at which point I was told I have to leave one of the children downstairs. This was even though our coats were still at the table. I was then followed around the restaurant like a thief while they kept speaking in their language and looking over at me. There were people at each door (apparently stopping me from leaving without paying-As I said our things were still at the table). I then decided to get the bill, I was over charged on a few things, this is when 4 of them came over and started making a song and dance of the situation. I said there doesn’t need to be so many people dealing with one person. The manager then stated who he was, at which point I asked if him and his colleagues being there was necessary as the person who was serving had things under control. He then went downstairs muttering in his language while a couple of the others attempted to make themselves look busy while still standing around and looking over. The first lady who was suppose to bring me downstairs came over and starting looking me up and down as if I was s#it. I paid (minus the service charge) and left the establishment. THE FOOD WAS POOR. Only good thing was the prawns. Their Chicken Spring rolls was absolutely disgusting. Sesame Prawn Toast was greasy. The Sweet & Sour Chicken was more vegetables than Chicken. The Prawn Noodles was waaaay too salty (even one of the children commented about the salt). Their drinks are overpriced. Customer service is poor. Even though there are numerous people walking around playing with each other (slapping each others bum and running off), they did not tend to the needs of their customers and the room downstairs were speaking about the lack of customer service. When you did call them they rolled their eyes as if they didn’t want to be there. ALL IN ALL THIS IS THE WORSE RESTAURANT I HAVE BEEN TO!! NEVER AGAIN.
Good address for daytime dim sum in Chinatown. Service is usually quick in Chinatown, but it was cheerful and friendly here too. Not a beautiful place, but modern and clean. Dim sum served until 17:00.Quality of the dim sum is a cut above average. We were really impressed with the shell fish cheung fun and dumplings. Often, shellfish dim sum have mangled scraps for filling, but that was not the case here. Prawn dumplings contained large whole prawns. Similarly nice big chunks of scallop in the cheung fun. I also liked the bean curd skin spring roll, which was a bit unusual. Nice attention to detail, in that different dipping sauces were supplied for different dishes. The bean curd skin spring rolls came with a tangy tamarind based sauce, and the paper wrapped prawns came with a sweet chilli sauce. There was soy sauce on the table and we had to ask for chilli oil and vinegar. The only dish I probably wouldn’t order again was the fish congee. There were nice big chunks of sea bream in it, but the broth was not particularly tasty.
As a vegetarian I had to scan the menu several times to find any dishes I could eat. I ended up trying the rice/noodle veggie dumplings which satisfied me. We had one waiter who was very accommodating and another who was very impatient with us. But the food was enough to look past all the negatives, but due to the high price I’ll probably only make annual trips.
Well I was invited to this place with one of my friend. This is the third time I went to china town and first time with some chinese friends. You really don’t look for Ambiance when you go to these places.Lets get straight to food.We decided to go for hotpot.Which is lots of meat and veggies served at your table (probably half cooked) then you put these into boiling water in a hot pot. Wait until its done and just eat. There were meat balls, beef, pork fish rolls, fish balls, mushrooms, potato and some more green vegs. Also you can pick some sauce from different options like soya sauce to schezwan and some sesame sauce.all in all it is good deal as hot pot has two different type of soups in which you dip the meat. one is spicy and other one is not so spicy. both were good and tasted well.we ate four large plates of meat.Service is fast, we never had to wait for anything. We also had some drink, it was basically water with aleo vera chunks .. it was ok but turned sour when we realized that it costed almost 8 pound per person.Over all food is good and eat as much you can in 20 pound is not bad but don’t go for that green looking drink, it might create a hole in your pocket.
Chaotic but Delicious. We ate here on a busy Saturday night. It looked nice from the street so we ventured in. We were led downstairs to the basement part which appears to be a host of little tunnels and a large open space. It was almost packed to the rafters here. They were a bit slow in taking our order but after they did the food came out quickly enough. As we ate we noticed lots of people beginning to wait which is a good sign. The majority of people eating were Chinese (though this is Chinatown) which is another good sign that the food should be authentic. It was all a bit chaotic down there but we loved the food we had and ate our fill.
