Sitting just around the corner of gerard street and Newport Pl, this place is about as noticeable as the rest of the generic chinese restaurants in Chinatown. We decided to hit this one for no particular reason with no regrets.We had -Deep fried sesame crispy prawn rolls with sweet and sour sauce – a seafood delight! crispy and flavorful coating housing fresh, succulent prawns inside.Deep fried cream custard bun – a deep fried version of the traditional custard bun, and SO MUCH BETTER!Mixed seafood vermicelli noodles in a thin, flavorful soup – had just the right amount of salt in it, too. The seafood was a well balanced variety of soft meat and meat with bite.Pan fried ho phun with shredded chicken – the soy really brought out the flavors of the beansprout and chicken, and the panfried noodles had just the right amount of bite, giving the whole thing a very agreeable texture.All in all – Food – 4/5Ambience – 3.5/5Service – 3/5Value for Money – 4/5 shutternerdblog.wordpress.com
I feel compelled to write a review for this restaurant. I usually reserve my efforts for the places that satisfy us. This restaurant was so bad that it deserved to be an exception to my rule. Let me save you the details of the dishes we ordered (from over fried spring rolls to Szechwan chilli overload hot pot). I’m no novice to Chinese cuisine and my tolerance for poor food (as long as it’s edible) is legendary. This was a knockout blow I didn’t see coming !!
